Oh my, scare of my life.
 

After reading about Yoshi and going thru all the anguish reading her posts I get the scare of my life. Gunner was running around the living room with me and my husband, and I wasn't paying much attention. A few minutes later (maybe 5-10 minutes) I was going to get up and I always check to make sure Gunner is not under my recliner, no Gunner. I ask the hubby if he sees Gunner, nope. So, I get up and call him, no Gunner. Hubby asks if I left him outside, I didn't think so, but I could have? So, for 10 minutes we look thru every room of the house, there are not many, and I am outside crying out Gunners name thinking an owl or raccoon got him. I started sobbing right then and there. We both came in and tried to reason out why Gunner isn't where we thought he was. So we started looking thru the house again. I finally found him stuck under the reclining couch in the middle. He was firmly stuck under there. He didn't make a sound the whole time! I had to climb behind the couch and carefully unlodge him from under there. I was crying the whole time. God forbid anything happened to him. I will block off the couch from now on. Hold tight to your babies, cause it hurts when something like this happens.

So glad it ended well!

One of my greatest fears is them getting hurt by the recliners. Noone is allowed ever to lower a recliner in our house without someone making sure both pups are where the can be seen.

So scary! Glad he's fine:p I "lost" Joel once when he got stuck in the bathroom lol it scared me.

I really didn't like this scared feeling. It was at least 10 minutes before we found him, scariest 10 minutes of my life. We always see where Gunner is before we put the recliners down.

Oh so scary! The poor thing! And what you must have been going through not knowing.

When I take Kristy for walks, there are these huge rainwater drains and I always get a bit tense every time we walk past one. She could just slip right in!

I got rid of my recliners...they were a constant worry for me.

OMG the exact same thing happened to me with my poodle! We ran around both floors of my house, the basement, and outside looking for her for at least half an hour.
We found her in the back of the couch, no idea how she got there, she was 12lbs so not exactly tiny.

Oh, I'm so happy that it's a happy ending!! That happened to me right after I got Piper and I couldn't find her ANYWHERE. I was frantic and bawling just like you. I finally found her under my bed back in the corner.

I agree, keep them close!! She is never allowed outside without supervision, EVER!!! We have too many Red Tailed Hawks, coyotes, and fox around here.

I'm glad it was just a scare and nothing serious. And Gunner, cry for help next time! Mommy needs to know where you are.

I'm amazed at how many yorkie moms lost their pups in the home! I am very hard of hearing so a friend recommended me putting a bell on a collar? Do you think that might be safe? I can't imagine having a ringing on his neck all the time, they have such sensitive hearing.

I am so sorry this happeded to you. I know the fear. A couple of years ago before we lost our little TIna, she got caught in the back of the recliner. I was in it drinkina a coke and couldn't even lower it without hurting her. She had started to cry and I was in a panic. I called my vet which is about 3 or 4 min. away and they sent one of the techs down to help me. By that time, I had tried to lift it off her and made it worse. I couldn't let go without killing her and he was enable to get her loose too. He held on to the chair and I was going to call 911 when he finally got her loose. She was bleeding but no broken bones, thank the Lord. I am now paranoid about our relcliners. We also have head count before you get up.... (Oh, and Tina lost a tooth) that was where the blood was coming from. Could have been so much worse.

My bed is against the wall but there is a gap so I packed it with old pillows and comforters. Right under the bed is large hard plastic storage containers for out of season clothes, so I didn't have to go down to the floor with padding.
Lo and behold one night I was awoke with this one lone pitiful cry. Instantly wide awake I call out to her , she is usually right there, all wiggly........nothing.
I call, nothing, frantically patting the bed down, nothing. I instinctively knew instantly to pull out the drawers that go halfway under the bed, and she bolted out! ALL wiggly and so happy to see me! She musta found a gap between the pillows and slid down.it was so packed no other way did she fall and I'm a very lite sleeper she doesn't go on my open side.

Little stinker doesn't go near the wall anymore it's center bed and under my chin by morning!

One time I heard Eevee cry, so I looked around for her. It sounded like it was coming from the back door where the doggie door is. So I look outside for her, don't find her. I look everywhere inside, run around frantically outside, everything, still can't find her and she never made another sound. I became convinced the cry I heard was her death cry as she was taken away by a coyote or owl or something just outside the back door. I was freaking out--then we found her in the closet by the back door. :rolleyes: Why didn't she just cry again to let me know where she was?

When my aunt's Yorkie was a puppy, she left her with her mother to be dogsat. The puppy disappears outside. So the whole family rushes home and looks for her. Turns out she had fallen down between the rails of a cattle guard and was trapped in a hole in the ground. She was barking, but the bark was so high-pitched the grandmother hadn't been able to hear her!

They can get trapped in the weirdest places. :eek:
