Is Zoe a girls name? I named my boy puppy Zoe and I've been getting alot of smack about his name. People are telling me its a girl's name but I really think its unisex. What do you think? I've had him for 2 weeks, should I change his name? (he's not really responding to it yet.) If I should then do you guys have suggestions? |
I've heard it as a girl's name but I don't see why a boy can't have that name. |
All the Zoe's I know are girls, but you can name him whatever YOU want. I get the same with Bailey,, everyone says it's a girls name... I say Actually it's a LAST NAME.. ha |
I always thought of it as a girls name... If he is used to hearing the e in Zoe, if you change it.. I would make it ryme as not to confuse him too much.... I adopted a harley once and could not use the name, so we changed it to charlie. : ) You could call him.... Joey! Or stick to it and keep Zoe... either is really fine... I know lots of boys with girl sounding names. |
Bailey is so a boys name! |
I had to jump in on this one :) Unisex names are changing these days. Look at mine! I tried so hard to name my daughter a feminine name because of mine, my mom's and my sister's names. (Toni, Robbie, Lee) Well when I chose Ashley for my daughter, my grandmother made SURE to remind me that her name was originally a boy's in the movie Gone with the Wind! I like the name Zoe, but I have mostly heard it used for a girl. |

I think it can be used both ways... but it is more commonly known as being a girls name. If you'd like to change it maybe Joey would work. This way it Rhymes and won't confuse him as much. I got smart remarks on Tiggers name when we flew to Vegas over Christmas. the people at the security check point wouldn't stop saying how it's a cats name. I wanted so much to tell them off, but I held my tounge and my boyfriend made a good point. He said "it wouldn't have done any good, and who cares? It's our dog and if they want to think that, Let them." If you like the name and think it's fitting, who cares what others think? They aren't raising him, you are and that's all that matters. Plus, you probably won't be seeing these people agian and if you do see them agian it won't be for a long time. |

aawww...you guys are great!! I love the name Zoe. I always thought of it as a boy's name. I had no idea its such a popular girl's name. It defintely suits HIM. I will keep it. THANKS! My mom and uncle calls him Joey because they have an accent and can't pronounce the "Z". It funny but cute. btw...I would think Bailey is a male name as well. I guess I just don't have a sense for names. Hooray ZOE!! |
Oh, the quest to find a name for your child that is both special and unique! I nammed my first child Katelyn.... so did 4 other parents in her kindergarden class, that year she was known as Katelyn S. #1. So Sad... When my son was born the quest continued! And Garrett emerged! Proven a winner at first, he is now subject to name calling that involves both carrots and ferrets! So Sad.... It is not a simple task the giving of names! But one to be taken with grave inportance... lest your daughter someday accuse you of not being creative when you nammed her! Yes, this too I have been told :( Buck up Katie I say, you could have been a Vader! Now thats a name you never hear the end of! Thank God my father did not win that fight with my mom over names, I would have been named Ella...I would have been Ella... Vader! So Sad... Thank heavens dogs dont tease eachother... its just the owners! Too funny! |
My Husband says there is a Zoe that is a boy. It is spelled Zoey. |
