Fighting sibs Im desperate to find a training solution for my 8 month old brother and sister. They love eachother 99% of the time and play and sleep and eat and everything else together but when I bring out any sort of chew treat they will actually fight eachother over it. Of course I always give them the same chewie but they always want the one that the other has and it is making me lose my mind. I end up taking the treat away from them because someone is going to get hurt. I don't understand why they are behaving this way. They are legit cage fighting eachother and thank God they are small so I can pull them off eachother. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have tried putting one on the floor and one on the sofa but they still just focus on what the other has instead of happily enjoying the treat. They are fine with treats it is just chewie treats they fight over. Thanks in advance  |
Aggression over chews/bones/etc is very common. We don't give chews with our 3 (mine and the two family dogs). It's not worth it, unless we're locked in my room at night-time, I may give him something. But yeah, we just avoid it. I would suggest seperating them. They'll always want the same bone, even if they each have the same one, lol. |
I had sister poodles, they'd also get into fights. For the most part it wad just standing on their hind legs, growling, and teeth bared, sometimes it was worse. They did it until the end. If they had chews they'd also try to steal from each other, some of the fights happened because of this. I'm not sure if you can train them to stop. If you really want to give them chews I'd put them in crates or seperate rooms. |
