Is your yorkie bossy to your big dog? 1 Attachment(s) Tinkerbell is trying to tell my 80 lb golden retriever what to do. He is so submissive it is ridiculous. She will give a little growl at him if he enters the room and he will stop in his tracks and won't come in the room! Even if I call him to me, he will look at Tinkerbell then back at me and won't budge. I don't know what he thinks will happen if he comes in the room, she doesn't bite or anything she just gives a little growl. And it's not like she doesn't like him, in fact most of the time she is kissing him, playing or cuddling up to him. But every now and then she gets in a mood and wants to tell him what to do. What should I do about this? I feel bad for our sweet big guy. Here they are playing. |
Cute Picture. I don't know what to tell ya. I don't have any other dogs, but I do know, that Bailey Is the ALPHA with ALL other dogs, big or small,, they all bow down ( literally) to him.. I 've just accepted what I don't know how to change  |
I don't have any ther dogs but Sophie is super bossy with me and my husband. She will growl, bark, and stamp her feet to get what she wants. I guess that is our fault for giving in and giving her what she wants. :aimeeyork |
Princess is the same way. If Mandy our Rottie has a toy she wants, Princess will always get it. It's so funny to watch Princess put Mandy in her place. They really are best friends, but Princess is the boss when it comes to the toys. :) |
That is such a cute pic! My friend has a 30 lb Beagle mix, which isn't big.. except when you compare it to a 4 lb Yorkie! Anyway, Macey was definitely the boss in that relationship... Precious is such a scaredy-dog! |
hahaha, sounds like they're married! Sorry, I don't mean to be rude at all, it's just kind of cute to picture. Maybe try to scold her for being mean to the big guy, see if she stops. |
Cute picture! Boy, can I ever relate to what you are saying here! Kip is the QUEEN here. She will tell my brittany spaniel when to play and when outside she will run and play attack her 'like it will do any good'. She is SO funny. She loves to play tag. She just wants the attention all the time! If our two cats growl at each other, Kip will bark and break them up. If they want to sleep Kip will wake them up with kisses. Not only that but she thinks she is also a herding dog. When we go out to feed the horses, she thinks it's her job to corral them into a circle and barks until they move to where she wants them to stand! She is SO brazen! Of course we encourage it because she is so cute, but seriously we have to watch her or she'll get into trouble sometimes. We are really lucky that all our animals love each other and wouldn't think of hurting her. They just stand there and let her have her way. Your golden has it all figured out I think. He sounds really gentle and that is a great combo to have with a yorkie around the house! :) |
Magic is the same way with Sailor...Sailor is bigger than her but Magic will boss her around like crazy!! She thinks that she is the boss and everyone should do what she wants to do....we have not figure out a way to stop it yet!! But at least we know we are not alone!!! |
He he he, that's so cute. Tigger doesn't have any brothers or sisters. but I am looking into getting another small dog for him to play with. He rather bosses my boyfriend (John) and I around. I.E: We're lying in bed and if we move him or get a little too close he growls. when we're vacuuming, he tries to make me stop by biting it ferociously. If I'm comfortable and he wants to play outside(we live in an apartment complex, he whines at the door til he gets his way. |
1 Attachment(s) So totally! Tucker put Rusty in his place. Sometimes Rusty decides he isn't in the mood for Tucker and does a little growl or whatever, just to warn him. But other than that, Tucker's in charge. |
Same thing at my house! My Bichon isn't as big as your retriever ---but the 5 lb Yorkie rules the roost. First of all, my Bichon is a 21-pound, very shy, gentle (but playful) dog. He and the puppy play all the time. However, he gives in the puppy in every way. The puppy eats both bowls of food while the Bichon stands back and watches. I have to hold the puppy in my arms --before the Bichon will even come in the house --probably because the first thing the Yorkie does is jump all over him and wants to play play play. I don't know about your Yorkie - but mine totally wears my other dog out....playing, of course. I guess our new slogan is: Dogs Drool - Yorkie's Rule! Carol Jean |
What you are seeing is Dog on Dog aggression. Which in this form is not to bad but not a whole lot of fun for the one being bullied. This can progress to more open aggeresion or not depending on the dogs involved. Joy |
