Is this a good xpen? 1 Attachment(s) Hi, Is this a good xpen for a 2.5 lb puppy boy? Thanks, Christine Small Animal 6 Panel Exercise Pen - 15H x 19W" |
I would think it would work just fine! :) |
I wouldn't suggest it, because according to target.com it is not for jumping animals, and from what I understand these little guys like to take flight! http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...t_adv_XSG10001 |
I had an xpen similar to that and it worked for me. My dogs never tried to jump out of it. |
That one is only 15 inches high...that would concern me. 15 inches isn't much. The one that I'm using is 24 inches high. Gracie is a jumper but hasn't tried to jump or climb out of it. That's why you should cover the top, though in case you're worried. |
If you can get one that's 24" high I think that it would be a little better, that way when he gets older and for some reason you have to confine him it will still work... |
THANK YOU!! I just purchased the 15' high one and I'll see how it works. I guess its for temporary until he gets old enough to have free roam. He's already potty trained so I'm not too worried about leaving him in my room cuz its also puppy proofed. I'm so happy I found YT! You guys are the BEST! |
pen Works well for the non-climbers...I have had a few Monkey type Yorkies. |

Uh, Venus climbed out of one that was 24" tall! Many times. I had to give up on the pen. I suppose you'll find out soon if yours is a climber! |

Yes , this is a good xpen . I have 2 like that . |
I suggest a higher one, although if you have a climber, good luck. Lucky has managed to climb over a 30 inch baby gate. Of course, when my parents were dog-sitting, they attempted to barricade her in a laundry room while they were gone with the baby gate across the door, a large, taller card table behind the baby gate, and something above the card table. They got home and Lucky greeted them at the front door, looking rather proud of herself. They checked out the laundry room and nothing was even moved. Lucky is 12 lbs. so they were in disbelief. I think she might be a genius, or at least the most athletic dog ever. She has also managed to escape her crate on a few occasions. We just don't get it. I think she is probably at home now finding a cure for cancer. |

My Dudley stays in one that is 24" high. He seems alright in there, but Mitchell (my toy poodle) climbs right on out of it. I am pretty sure you will have to get a bigger one as he gets older.:animal36 |
They make bigger ones for dogs. Website says that this size is: “Appropriate for hamsters, hedge hogs, gerbils, guinea pigs and other non-jumping small animals.” Nancy |
