3lb female with a 5lb male My 3 lb female is pregnant by my 5 lb male. I am afraid there may be complications because of her size. Has anyone experienced this? |
I think you should have your male neutered and female spayed right away. This poor female could die having puppies. She is too small for breeding so I would talk to a vet about nice.Good a Luck. Susan |
And the beat goes on.............. The problem here is NOT the 5# male, it is poor, pitiful, unfortunate little baby girl that weighs only 3 lbs that some human, that has absolutely NO working knowledge base on breeding of any kind, has allowed to be bred. For what earthly reason would this tiny female be subjected to breeding from ANY male????????????? For the love of God, WHY??????? TERMINATE this pregnancy!!! I am sure you will have people come here and tell you "it will be all right, it is water under the bridge, too bad, so sad, but it is what it is, push forward and pray all turns out well.....". RUBBISH!!!! Please do not put your baby girl through this......but let me guess....it was an "accident" and it has already been 8 weeks.... For ME, Crown Royal, neat.....a double............ |

Its actually been a few days, but thank you all for your nice comments God bless:) |
You should be very worried. You are going to end up paying a fortune for these puppies and your girl and I pray they come out alive. Very possible there's going to be a problem. Three pounds. Yes, there will be complications. You should get with a knowledgeable about yorkies specialist. In situations where the father is larger than the mother, they will weigh everything out and make a decision with you on termination and spay or C-section. Hopefully you have all of the lineage to take in so they can judge based on the last four generations. With one that small however you have double complications - particularly if they have a throwback to a larger sized up - and more chance of fatality. She was too small to breed. :( They should be over 5 pounds (at least that's the recommendations from all of the experts and AKC). There are people who do this in order to get tiny dogs, but the pups are never as healthy, and what they won't tell you is how often they die. Good luck. Run to the specialists as fast as you can. Also get a mentor that is familiar with breeding yorkies. Make sure your specialist is well versed with yorkies too. Many reputable breeders will tell you not every vet has enough experience with specific breeds when it comes to special situations like this. |

Thank you! I will!!! |
This poor little mama, please do the right thing for her life- have her spayed ASAP!! |
You need to get to a gynecologist vet specialist right away no waiting. Your female was way to small to be bred and this may cost her, her life! |
I completely agree with the others. I have one who weighs under 3lbs and I cannot even imagine her trying to whelp. Please if you really love this baby schedule her for an emergency spay right away. |
I already made her an appointment to get spayed thank you |

Mistakes don't necessarily define you....but how you handle them, does!! I commend you for coming here in the first place...and for listening to advice to seek out medical care for your pup right away. The pregnancy is definitely a huge risk and I think you are making the right decision to terminate it. Keep us updated on how the surgery goes~ |

We have all seen it many times, people come on here claiming their tiny dog "accidentally" got pregnant and seeking advice only to ignore the good advice and risk their dog's life. But you are sincere, you listened and made a choice that was best for your baby. You truly care about your dog and you are doing the right thing, I commend you for that. Good luck with the spay! Also, please be sure to post pictures of your pups! We love pictures on here :) Don't be afraid to post any questions you may have or if you just want to brag about your furbabies (who doesn't like to brag about their cute furbabies?);) |
Welcome. Good luck for you and your fur baby!! Praying all goes well. |
What an absolutely wonderful bit of information coming from you!!! You are going to save this little girls life! We can count on one hand the number of people that realize what this kind of situation can do to their beloved little lady....thank God you are able to see the clear and present danger with her situation! Please keep us posted about your baby's progress and looking forward to seeing pics of this sweet little baby girl! God bless you for doing what is best for your little girl, not just what you would like to see your baby girl experience, hoping against all the odds that "everything will turn out just fine". You are few and far between!!!!! |
