Itchy Babies Hi, My 2 babies have been itching really bad..non-stop. They do not have fleas. It was recommended I change their food and to not get anything with chicken in the food. However, I was reading the post for homemade puppy foods and noticed a lot of people cook chicken for their babies. Is it the processed chicken in the dog food the main source? I have no clue....lol. Any advice would really be appreciated. My babies are miserable. Thanks! |
A lot of chicken is enhanced. What you need to look for is fresh organic chicken or turkey. It's good if you want to try home cooking that you choose a variety of protein sources to make sure they call all the minerals and vitons they need as well as organ meats |
Did your vet say your babies might be allergic to chicken?.. I heard Canine Caviar's Holistic Venison is really good. But it's pricey. :( Did they start itching just recently? My pups tend to get dry skin during winter b/c we have the heater on high. So they used to scratch more often. Once I figured that out, I started to spritz them everyday with emu oil spray. Seems to work... They also get seasonal allergies so if it seems bad, I'd give them benadryl. |
do they have enviromential allergies, then benadryl would help, but not for food allergies, chester is itchy dog as well when the pollen if up. I use salmon oil in his food, no dryer sheets, all free and clear for laundry soap, no scent in the house or carpet and I use a air cleaner good luck |
A wise person here suggested a solution of half vinegar and water poured on them after their bath and left to dry. It has been a world changing thing for our Laddy. |
