What the heck! Puppy won't potty first thing in the morning! Lucy is 6 months old, and I take her out before I go to bed around 10-11 PM. She sleeps with me, and when I get up in the morning I drink a cup of coffee while she continues to sleep with my hubby. around 7:30 AM (about 8 hours now) I take her outside to do her business.. and NOTHING! She just smells, chases squirrels or birds and has no interest in going potty! How can this be? I have checked my bed just incase she was sneaking down to the foot of the bed.. nope, all is clean. I come back in and end up putting her in her craft.. sometimes till 10 Am.. of 11 + hours after her last pee. I just don't understand why she doesn't need to go! I have even tried playing with her this morning before taking her out.. still nothing! |
So.. she peed last night but haven't this morning. Am I correct? Are you sure she didn't go somewhere else in the room? Under the bed maybe? I'm assuming she's tiny.. if so then her pee spot might be small and hard to notice. Especially if it's in a area where it has shadows. Is your floor carpet, wood? |
Maggie goes out at night around 10pm, sometimes earlier or a little later, but around there. She will stay in her crate until 10-11 am with no problem on most days. Sometimes she doesn't even go,right out and wants to run up to my bed to hang out for a little bit. Usually she will go out though. Sometimes she just sight sees as well, but I sternly tell her to do potty. She is 3 yrs old and 10 pounds. Not sure what age she started doing this. Also, I leave her water down all the time. In the evenings she will drink because she plays fetch and chew with her stuffed toys and gets thirsty. She usually does not drink after her last potty though. |
Also, when she does go in the morning, it's a LOT! |
She is tiny - 3 lbs. This is NOT the first morning she has done this, she does this often. She makes a pretty good puddle when she pees.. but I stripped my bed down and there is not one single pee stain. She can't get off the bed... I pick her up and carry her to the door - never a moment out of sight. Water is down at all times, but since she is on my bed from about 8:30 PM till morning.. she isn't drinking, but neither am I and I pee a few times!! lol During the day, she pees more often. Maggie, thanks that's helpful to know Lucy isn't the only one! I just haven't heard of this before... |
I love it! I can sleep in anytime! If we get up earlier she will go earlier but will stay there. I stay up late so I like to sleep late. Hubby says she is definitely my dog (because I love to sleep in). I would have died if I had to get up 7 days/wk at 7 am like my friends with dogs. |
