Callie is a dork for years she has taken hydroxyzine for car rides and when her allergies start making her itch. Well the vet gave her an antibiotic shot and wants her to take the hydroxyzine twice a day for two weeks. Well I got her pill out and set it next to her and got the pill shooter well she hates this pill and I have always set it down next to her when I get the pill shooter well she licks it and it being a capsule stuck to her tongue and I had to get it off and it was lovely and sticky ugh. My little dorky Yorkie lol :D

Silly Callie! I hope Teddy never has to have a capsule. He will probably do the same thing.

I had to give him some liquid Benadryl the other day and more ended up on his beard than in his mouth. He had a very sticky beard. :p

That has happened to us before and if you don't get it out it gets crunchy yuck

I never saw a pill shooter before so I youtubed it... I guess it shoot hard enough to make it go down all the way? Have you ever heard of it not shooting far enough though? Making it get stuck in the throat?...

Depending on the size of the pill, I'd had to find different things to coat it with to coax my two to take. I wonder if pill shooters would be a better alternative...

Just curious, what was the Benadryl needed for? I thought of giving my Bailey this, with all his itching a few months ago, but read that we shouldn't give it to our dogs. Now I'm confused:( I ended up going to the vets and he gave Bailey an antihistamine shot. I sure would have rather given him Benadryl at home though. BTW - how much does your dog weight?

It really doesn't shoot it at all it just drops it down the throat. I got mine from a vet tech when Callie had surgery and they prescribed a pain med she would not take no mater what. I have never had one get stuck but I give her a treat or something afterwords to make sure there's no problems. If you click on my blog under my signature I review the pill shooter I use. It has to have a rubber tip or it can scratch there throat.

You should always talk to your vet before giving your dog medicine especially it they are on any medicines but lots of people here have given benadryl and my vet has suggested it when my moms yorkie kept rubbing his face. People sometimes give it for itching, allergies, and some give it to kept there dog calm but it just makes mine hyper lol.

Actually, that would've been my other question. LOL Zoey's more picky than Magnus so her being so small, I thought it might hurt/scratch her throat. I'll definitely check your blog for the pill shooter review. Thanks!
