Yes we do too! My husband acts like it doesn't bother him but I know it does. We have only left her once before for 2 days and we had a good trip but during down time I was worrying about Kiki. We are going to st.Louis in a couple of weeks and she will stay with my mom. (The only person I have ever left her with) I know she will be fine but she panics now if she thinks we are going to leave her any where but the groomers. I'm even having my mom pick her up so she happy to get to go instead of upset because we left. Breaking my heart but walking in the door after being gone and she will be so happy- priceless! |
I TOTALLY get what you are going through. I used to travel all the time, at least once a month, before I got the boys. I left Princeton at my moms one time for 2 days and it was hard and Ricky's never been left. It's been 2 years since I've had a real vacation. My friends get upset because I don't want to go out or travel and leave the boys, but it is what it is. I can't have fun if I am worrying about them. I bought a nanny cam for the boys. I'd have to guess my separation anxiety is probably worse than theirs!! |
YES, mine is sooo bad. The few times I have left him for multiple days, he is always at my dads house, whom he loves! but I feel so empty without him in my bed. :( |
Unfortunately for me I have to leave Sophie Kate when I travel for work and it is never easy. Sophie Kate boards at my Vet office (the only place I would leave her) and has since she was 5 months old. She LOVES!!! the people who work there, she practically jumps out of her Snoozer when we pull in. Because she has stayed there so often and they know her so well she has her own sleeping crate and usually spends her day behind the reception desk being the office manager. Another perk is the Vets office has a cat and Sophie Kate loves cats, probably more than she likes other dogs. They play and chase each other and hang out in the sun together. Now me when I leave her? That is a whole other story I HATE leaving her anywhere period. |
Carmen, I know you probably thought about this but does Disney World have a doggie day care facility like Disney Land does? I know the one at Disney Land is near all the parks and is rated very highly by everyone that boards their dogs there. Completely understand about your separation anxiety but think how excited they will be when you come back home. |
Yes, mine are attached at my hips. I take them almost anywhere that will allow them. And they're not the ones with SA. At least they are in good hands, have fun on your trip! :) |
I hate leaving Billi, even to run simple errands. I only work parttime while I'm in school, and just leaving her for a handful of hours eachday bums me out and I can't wait to get home to her. I was a few minutes late this morning cuz she was laying on the kisses as I was leaving and that made it impossible to go! Thank god my college is online! We went on vacation last month and Billi stayed with my grandma and I called everyday, sometimes twice a day to check on her. It's kinda pathetic LOL |
We vacation with our pups. We go camping and stay at resorts that allow dogs or we don't go! I won't leave mine even overnight! |
sometimes you just have to leave them behind, not every vacation spot works well to take a dog to, I travel with Lola but there are times, like when we go skiing out west that it would not be fun for her. Does not mean I don't miss her like heck and am chomping at the bit to pick her up the first thing when I get home, but I know that the place we leave her is fun and safe for her so that helps make it easier. Carmen sounds like you have everything perfectly set up for the girls to make it much easier on them, tell your friend to not freak out if they eat less, that's normal when mom is gone. just let her know their favorite things likes walks or playing fetch so they get to do that a lot, it will help keep their minds off your absence. LOL last time I picked up Lola from the yorkie sitter she did not even look like she wanted to leave with me because she had so much fun. |
Major separation anxiety here. Chuck won't travel without the pups, but I've had to a few times and I miss them soooo much it drives me nuts. I know they're in good hands with their "papa," but I still worry. |
Oh I am so like you. I had a list for everyone. I do not want to stress you out but my friend was suppose to brush Galen . . . .now he is naked. Have a great time. Hugs |

YES!! My DH thinks I'm a little crazy but YES! |
Me :( I left my Lucy for 2 days this past weekend to visit my parents (their dog is CRAZY territorial and Luce is just a little playful pup!) She was with my sister so I got a million texts and even some videos. I missed her SO much and wanted to just be home with her :( |
Let us know how you did when you get back, Carmen. I totally relate. When I went on the cruise last month, I was wiggin' out because of the thought of being away from my babies for so long. I've been away from Shelby for a weekend before but not longer than that. I had never been away from Mandie. I thought it was going to consume my thoughts, but as soon as I got on the road with my sister, the excitement of everything took over. Of course, I had my "I miss my babies" moments along the way during those 5 days, but it didn't consume my thoughts like I thought it would. Can't wait to hear about your time when you get back. Hope you took pics! :) P.S. I think I should respectfully demand that you come back here and post a pic of that note on your fridge for the dog sitter. Yup, you were having anxiety alright. I think others here have a right to see that. hehe ;) :D |
