Spay, microchip, and dew claws removal tomorrow Gina's big day is tomorrow, as the the title says, she is getting spayed, micro-chipped, and her front dew claws removed. She also turns 6 months tomorrow as well. We got her trimmed yesterday, and she gets a bath tonight, then oh such a fun filled day for her. I have the preemie long sleeve onesies ready for when she gets home, the long sleeves are for covering the bandages on her front paws. I'll be glad to get this part past us, then back to more training, she's well on her way to service dog trained, even though we still have 6 months before she can be certified. Aww, very big day for you & Gina tomorrow. You'll want to stay close to her and lay on the loving while she's resting and recouping. She'll be back on her feet & back to training in no time. :) Good luck & get well soon, little Gina! |
Cook finally took a nice nap after getting spayed this morning. Hope Gina's recovery tomorrow is a quick one. |
Gina and you will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Wishing her a speedy recovery too. |
Make sure you have the vet pull any baby teeth she has so she dosent have to go back under later to have those removed. |
Aww you and gina will be in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery (((hugs))) for little Gina :-) so are her dew claws detached from her leg bones? I had asked my vet about this and he said some are, and some are not. Gizmos are attached and he told me it would be like cutting off his fingers because the bone connection, so I will be leaving Gizmos next month, when he is due to be neutered. My vet said he only removes dew claws that are only held by skin because of the pain it can cause. Will be checking here tomorrow to see that all goes well xoxo |
Thanks, and I'm not sure if they are attached to the bone or not, but I've seen too many dogs get them ripped out on something, and that's a lot more pain than the amputation by vet. I appreciate all the good wishes. Cheers Quad:aimeeyork |
Was just curious :-) I'm sure they are not attached. Gizmo has total bone connecting the. The vet said more are unattached then are :-) |
Prayers going out for Gina's surgery tomorrow. Prayers for her recovery as well. |
Just dropped Gina off at the vets, now to wash the pads in the crates, and her blankets. Cheers Quad:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
Get well soon, Gina! I'm amazed how quickly Cookie has bounced back. She'll be crying to go outside and play in no time I bet, and I wager Gina will be ready to play again soon too. |
Gina's home, and a little out of it, she only got spayed and micro-chipped, my vet like Sunnydayz, didn't want her to have to recover from that much pain. Thank all of you for the well wishes, and speedy recoveries. Cheers Quad:aimeeyork |

She's still out of it, I did give her a bit of Enercal, same thing as Nutrical, and she drank a little water. Right now she's sleeping on my lap on the couch. As for the baby teeth, none needed pulling. Cheers Quad:aimeeyork |

She has, my vet is very good and always checks any animals mouth, every time they go in to her clinic. She saved Megan's life 3 times, over the 10 years she was her vet, and has told me that Gina is the best and healthiest Yorkie to be seen by her in a very long time. Gina's bite is perfect, not over or under, and we brush her teeth at least once a week, trying for everyday, but still not her favorite activity. I know she lost several while we have been playing grrr, with her rope or dragon or duck, Gin bites and holds on to one end and I hold the other and we both grrr at each other, Gina loves it. I've been trying the toothbrush as well, and it's not going that great here :-) I also give Gizmo the vanilla/mint dental chews once a week. They are supposed to help break down tarter. The ones I get are made by n-bone and gizmo is so funny when he gets it. For like the first 20 mins of having it, he runs round whining and trying to hide it, like I made a mistake because it tastes to good for him to be allowed to have lol. He finally will stop hiding it, and chews it down :-) it takes him a good 45 mins to an hour to finish it. They are twisted so they get in between the teeth really well. |
