Attitude with a capital A... New to YT but not to puppies...Have had 5 dogs in my life time, last being my pitbull of 15yrs...My wife and i now own a 7 wk old Yorkie Poo, mostly yorkie..Problem we have is he hates to be handled at certain times and growls and fidgets with wreckless abandon..It's more of an excited worked up growl, but never the less he growls if held...have submitted him on his back and it still continues...Vet looked him over at 6 weeks and she picked him up and he growled and flared his teeth....Would love any input if anyone has had the same thing and fixed his attitude |

This pup should have stayed with the mom and his siblings. He is at the age they learn social skills. He also must be terrified with all the new surrounding and strange people. Try redirecting him. Treats for this will be needed |

I sound to me like he didn't get handled or had much socializing or human contact when he was younger. or it is possible that he was mishandled and fears humans due to an unfriendly incident. Can I ask where you get him from ? Does he let you cuddle him ? Does he give puppy kisses ? Does he show fear all of the time or only when being held? Does he allow you to approach him and pick him up? Has you vet ruled out any illness that could be causing pain? That would cause him not to want to be held or touched. Sorry for the long list of questions but this just baffles me as to why a puppy would be so fearful. You don't have to answer but I just though it would help to try and figure out why he does this and try to figure out a way to help this little one feel more at home with you and your family. |
