Looking for yorkie for a friend
 
Hi all,
Sorry I have not been here in quite a while. A very good friend and newly divorced mom is looking for a yorkie. She doesn't have a lot of money but can promise a good loving home here in the Buffalo area. She has 2 girls 9 & 13. If anyone can help I would so appreciate it.

Not to burst your bubble here, just to inform - it is my understanding that Yorkies are not suggested for children under 5, as the children can't yet understand to be VERY careful with these little dogs as they are very delicate. Any one else here confirm this for me, or not??

Your friends girls would probably love to have a yorkie to love but taking on a yorkie pup or an adult yorkie is like having another child to care for. Does your friend work? Would she be home during the day to care for a dog? Sometimes it can get expensive owning a dog especially if they get sick.
She just needs to make sure she is prepared for all the extra responsibility before she gets a yorkie or any dog.

Her girls are 9 and 13 so they are plenty old enough to care for a dog. I don't normally recommend small yorkie pups for those that have children under 5 but there are exceptions. There are many other things to consider.

Thank you all,
I have explained to her about all the care and time a yorkie needs and she fully understands. We actually may have found a pup, who came from a puppy mill, so she may take this little guy.

No worries Julianna. We have found a rescue pup for her. He will be here Friday and his name will be Charley. She is very excited, I recommended this website to her, since she will be a new yorkie mommy:)
