Fletcher peed in the house last night.... He looked right at me when I caught him and said NO and he just kept going until he was done, the whole time staring at me. Leg lifted, everything!!!  He was SUPER needy last night also. My friend and her son came over. DH's friend came over and then DH's son came up, and everyone was talking for a bit. Fletcher kept barking at me for attention while everyone was there. Then he went and lifted his leg right on the wall and stared at me the whole time, but did not stop. That was just plain BRATTY! He wanted attention in the chaos and that's how he choose to get it. I don't understand why he does this. DH was very mad and I was too actually, he's 8 years old. This is just ridiculous! What do I do? |
Give him a little extra attention when it's chaotic? Or maybe have a quiet place for him to be? |
I don't want to give him more attention when it's chaotic. I also don't want to put him away either. I want to train him to behave and be ok when there are people over. I am just not sure how to do that. I know it can be done though. |
I'm sure people with more experience will be able to help you. I'm a newer Yorkie owner, so I only have simple suggestions. :) |
He isn't doing this to spite you. It is probably that he is upset or anxious. Maybe Stilwell has a show about this? If this is very abnormal for him and he does it again he needs to be checked for a UTI. |

I have 2 Yorkies monsters by the way, they are my world, and I love them to pieces, but I have 2 velcro boys who are attention mongers. I have to put them in the living room to talk with my husband or else they bark at us the whole time we talk. Ive created the cutest monsters ever! |
No offense taken. :) |
Yikes what a naughty little boy. lol Hey I think dogs are very perceptive and know just what to do to get the attention they want. My suggestion is when he does that to firmly say "no no" and take him and put him in a time out for 5-10 minutes. Even when he is barking to get your attention the same rule applies. Time out. Consistent. Everytime. Say "no barking" and put him in a room with no one. Eventually he will come around to realize "hmm well this is not working" Peeing in front of you. same thing. |
Could he have been barking to go potty? I've done that with Joel before and I felt so bad lol, he kept barking and I thought he wanted something else so I told him quite and he peed on the floor. I felt so bad |
If Gizmo has been bad or if he is mad about something it is the only time that he ever pees in the house. He only does it out of spite. Sounds like that might have been your little guys reason too, but unfortunately I have no suggestions :( |
My first thought is that he was trying to tell you he needed to go. |
He went out and peed not a half hour before. |
