Rereading my post, I want to make clear that I do not think you are at fault in any way whatsoever. I think it was irresponsible of the vet that prescribed the trifexis, absolutely NOT you for giving it. You trust your vet to know these things. Again, my heart breaks for you and your loss. |
I'm very sorry for your loss, and I feel your pain, as I too lost my Yorkie, Megan, to kidney problems earlier this year. I got a new puppy about a ,month and a half later, I couldn't deal with not having a little furbaby around. I miss Megan every day, and am thankful for Gina every day as well. Just try to remember all the good times, and the love you have for her, as I'm sure she held just as much for you. May she rest in peace, and may find some peace as well. Quad:aimeeyork |
I am so sorry for the loss of your little girl. Like everyone has said, it wasn't your fault. We should be able to trust our vets and more and more it scares me the meds they put our babies on. Bless your heart, just hang in there, time does help. RIP sweet baby girl. |
So sorry for your loss R.I.P Promise. I'm sure she's still keeping watch over you as your little guardian angel. |
Thanks so much to all of you. I do believe this is the hardest thing I have ever gone through. Getting through the morning routine before work, and especially the evening routine, when I get home is the hardest. She was always in the window on her pillow waiting for me. I guess I need to establish new routines. One quick note, I stated that she was 1.9 lbs.... well that was on the day I put her to sleep. Just two weeks earlier, she was all of 4 lbs...her dosage of Trifexis was only a half a tab, which the vet said was correct since the package dosage starts at 5 lbs. I couldn't go through the agony of an autopsy, but in my heart, and after hours of research, I do believe the Trifexis was the culprit....and unfortunately, my vet is agreeing with me. Amazon.com has pulled this poison from their stock and refuses to sell it. If a corporation like that will not sell it...what does that say? I wish I could post her picture, but it seems to be too big for my profile picture and I don't know how to resize. Thanks again for your kind, loving words. I really need them. |
I am so sorry!! |

you thought you were doing what's best and I'm not familiar with this drug so I will be sure to check it out, although my vet tends the holistic natural route. I am terribly sorry for your loss please accept my condolences |
So sorry to hear about the loss of you sweet baby. |
I am soo sorry for your loss. Promise is in a better place now and no longer suffering. You are in my prayers.:heart to:heart to |
I'm so very sorry for your loss of baby Promise. I have you in my thoughts and pray that you may find peace. Rest in Peace, Promise. |
When we trust vets with tthe health and care of our babies, and then something devastating happens to our babies, we automatically assuume the blame. This was not your fault....the only way you can blame yourself is if you are guilty because you are not a vet! Take the time to grieve, and then allow your heart and soul to be bathed in the warm love of a new puppy. Just FYI....my vet will not prescribe Trifexis to any small dogs, especially yorkies. I have no idea where or why she assumed this position, but she is resolute! |
So sorry for your loss:( Be assured that you were doing the best for your furrbaby at the time!! You will be in my thoughts and my hope is that every day will get a bit, albeit tiny, better. I don't believe that it was your fault. Thanks for sharing your story, as it is very informative for all of us novices. Promises' passing will not be in vain!!!!! |
I'm so sorry, just breaks my heart. My mother had her chihuahua (Angel) on Trifexus and gave her dose before work one day and when she came home from lunch, she noticed Angel hadn't greeted her at the door for their daily ritual of "Yay mommy is home" kisses and tail waggin. She looked on the couch and noticed Angel just laying there staring at her in a daze, like she wasn't sure where she was. She didn't move. When my mom approached her, Angel backed up away from her then eventually ran from her. This totally freaked out my mom, he swears it's from the Trifexus. |
Brought my little sweat pea, Promise, home from the vet today in a small urn. Another hard day. It's been almost two weeks since she died and I still have not been able to stop crying. I keep running the picture of her in my arms after they gave her the final shot...and the life just pouring out of her small body....thanks for the support everyone. This has gotta get better one day. |
