got the poops again.... can someone help me with the poops problem. I havent changed food or given her anyother treats. But my Penny has the poops. This is going on the 2nd day and I am afraid of her becoming dehydrated and hypoglysemic. What can I do???? |
Probably you will need to go to the vet but in the meantime make sure you give your baby Nutrical since she will need the nutrients!!! Best of luck |
I see from your previous posts that your baby is about 5 or 6 months old so it is probably not coccidia, but yorkies have very sensitive digestive tracts and almost anything unusual can upset their little tummies. Does anyone in the house sneak her people food or could she have gotten into anything that was accidentally left within reach. Anything outside? I agree with the previous post about seeing the vet, taking a stool sample that you have refrigerated (to avoid the invasive butt probe) and giving her lots of fluid and nutrical or karo syrup to prevent low blood sugar until you get her there. Hope she is better soon. |
what is nutrical and where do i get it. Im new to the yorkie world. Can I give her a small portion of antidiarrea medicine?? |

Thank you all so much for your input into my poopy problem. I am on the way to get nutrical and since its the holidays cant go to my vet, he isnt open until tuesday.. I will follow all your advise and keep you posted. Again thank you so much!!!!!!! |
Not sure what you are feeding but it could be an issues with the food. Have a look at the additives and the ingredients in your food and the quality level. My girl is not great on Beef or chicken but fine on Lamb. Now she is off both chicken and beef for food she can have them as a treat no problem. Joy |
I have Penny on chicken soup dry for puppies and give her lamb and chicken wet. She has been on this since she was 12 weeks and no problems until now. I wonder if maybe she ate something outside that I did not see? Anyways I am giving her the nutrical and we will see if she is better tomorrow. |
It's me again. I forgot to mention that too much nutrical could make her poop poop get very sticky (hard to pass). You need to follow the instructions on the back of the tube. It's OK to go a little over but not too much. If you still worry about low blood sugar after you have maxed-out (is that a word??) on nutrical, try syrup (maple or whatever). It should help. Sometimes they do pick up something they shouldn't have and we just can't catch them every single time. :( It's too hard to say what cause the problem -without seeing a vet. I hope she would get better soon. |
Honey on the gums is also okay. |
Chicken Soup" Brand Dog food is manufactored by Diamond Dog Food... lease be aware that this is true I did a web search on this http://www.eskie.net/dog/food/ The Company claims it is not affected by the recall as it is manufactored in another plant Yes, the Chicken Soup for the Soul(and Pet Lover's Soul) folks have decided to add their own brand of food to the market, obviously marketing heavily off the success of the books they've published. These foods are actually made by Diamond food. http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com/ Check the Chicken Soup site for more information! Scroll to the bottom of the page. Just a heads up not sure that they are involved in the recall but should check. Joy |
