Ideal puppy age I'm thinking of getting a puppy from a show breeder. He will be 15 weeks. I've heard that they can be hard to socialize if you don't get them at 12 weeks. I'm worried also about separation anxiety from siblings and what his current potty habits are. I didn't get to see his kennel, but he's from a highly regarded show breeder. |
I got my Chevy 2 weeks ago at 10 months of age. He is very well socialized, and I have been told so by many people. He loves meeting new dogs (including his reflection in the mirror:)) I honestly believe it all comes down to the breeder, and my breeder did a GREAT job with my little boy. |
I got my girl at 14 weeks (same breeder as nina), and she was very well socialized and warmed up immediately to us. Just sweet from the get-go when we got her, and she loves our neighbors too. |
You shouldn't get them before 12 wks. I think after is fine. |
Reputable breeders won't let there pups go until 12 weeks at least and they actually normally have less problems then say an 8 week old pup from a bad breeder. There moms and siblings help them to learn and understand socialization and what is ok and not ok. |
I agree. Its dependant on the breeders interaction with the pups prior to you getting them. Great job in choosing a breeder who does not let them go until 12 weeks. It allows vital socialization and behavioral etc. Development. |
You shouldn't have any problem with a 15 week old puppy. I got both of my pups at 5 months old and didn't have any issues. |
