Possible allergies? My little Molly has just recently started licking her paws and rubbing her face on the carpet. Would this be allergies by any chance? I've not changed her food other than trying different flavors in her wet food but she was having these symptoms before the flavor change. The skin on her little belly looks dry as well. I was thinking maybe it's because of the weather/temp change. Any suggestions? |
Three of my four have fall allergies and normally by this time of year they are have already started to show signs of having allergies. It starts as soon as the pollen count rises. So I'm thinking that it might be something else. Could be the type of shampoo that you use or some sort of other grooming product. If it continues you will want to have her seen by your vet. |
Yes you may want to take her into the Vet- Peanut was on a handful of creams and pills for his allergies.. then I started him on Canine Caviar and it all stopped!! In the meantime you may want to get her on a higher quality food. Find a limited ingredient kibble, stop the wet food, and treats... do this to find the ingredients she can't tolerate... then knowing that info you can find a food without those ingredients. Peas, wheat, corn, soy, flaxseed.. are just some. |
Check out the pollens in your area by looking at pollen.com...that will help you track things that might be triggering. And yep, paw licking and chewing is the cardinal sign of allergies, unfortunately. Have you tried OTC anti histamines yet? |
May I ask what OTC anti histamines is? And where do you but it |

grasses are full of pollens, with her walking and sniffing it could very well be. Maybe try wiping her down with a damp facecloth when you come in from outside |
I keep liquid benadryl on hand both mine have had wasp stings and it helped |
This is the one my Vet recommended me. It’s from Walgreens. Peanut use to get ½ of a pill once a day as needed. Walgreens*Wal-Finate Allergy Relief Tablets | Walgreens Always speak with your Vet before giving any OTC drugs- |
I agree with all the great advice given. Imo it does sound like allergies. Im not a vet but would definitely say that around this time is when allergies may rise suddenly. |

He is only taking 2.5 mlg because of his age which is working great for him. No signs what so ever since he started them. I just worry about the effects it is having on him health wise. I will have to check into that for next year during allergy season. :) Thanks Deana ! |

I also did allergy testing with Marcel and he gets a custom concoction to desensitize his system to those allergies. |
