What haircut should my yorkie mix get? I recently got a yorkie mix from someone who didn't have time for her. She is four years old and my baby! when we got her they told me they had shaved her for the summer so her hair is not fully grown yet. When it does grow out, I'm wanting to get her fur styled in one of the traditional yorkie haircuts. Since she is a yorkie mix though, I'm not sure which haircut will look best on her and make her look more like a yorkie and just look flattering to her. I will post links to pictures of her that I've taken with her hair growing and a picture of her the previous owner sent me of when her hair was fully grown. thank you! please no negativity! Also if anyone has any thoughts on what she might be mixed with let me know! We think she's either part maltese or part mini schnauzer just based on looking up pictures of some online. thank you for taking the time to read this and help me out! I recently posted this on yahoo answers and no one has helped me out, so I would really appreciate it if someone would give me their opinions and advise! Here's pictures that I've taken of her: http://oi40.tinypic.com/jl2wyw.jpg http://oi42.tinypic.com/2irrzvn.jpg Here's the picture they sent me of when her hair was full grown: http://oi42.tinypic.com/2i8995j.jpg |
She is adorable! I'd let her hair grow a bit and see what your groomer thinks would be a good look, depending on the type, thickness etc of her hair. Whatever you do, she is precious! |
Explore Yorkie Haircuts Pictures And Select The Best Style For Your Pet Here is a good site with a wide variety of yorkie styles. IMO, many of them are quite over the top & there is no way in H*** that I would cut mine that way, but many are quite cute. |
I aways think the "puppy cut" is just the sweetest look! If her hair is silky and you can mange it, let it go as long as possible. She really melt the heart! |
Since she is a mix it is hard to tell how long her hair will get. I would grow it out first then decide |
Ohhhh cutie girl!!! I keep my boys shaved in the summer and a puppy cut in the winter. I just can't handle the long hair! :) |
I guess I've always been attracted to long haired dogs because I love the flowing coat. My little girl gets cold quite easily so I usually keep her in a longer coat. In the summer we cut the length to just under the belly and taper the length of her leg hair so that it is appropriate to the body length. Kind of like the fifth pic down on the page of doggy cuts that was linked to. We don't have her face so long or cut in such a sharped edged manner. Her coat always grows back to floor length by the time cold weather rolls around. Your photo of her when she had longer fur indicates that she has kind of fine hair. Using a good all natural shampoo and conditioner will help keep the fur from getting frizzy or unmanageable. Products with sulfates and other harsher chemicals can really strip that fine hair and make it so it won't lay right. Your little girl looks like a real sweetie. I'm thinking maybe a mix with a Pom or another terrier. |
