Submissive Urination My puppy Jellybean is almost 6 months old. Whenever she sees her favourite people (myself, two kids, ex-husband and a good friend) she immediately starts to pee. Even if she has just gone pee outside a minute before she still will pee when she sees her favourite people. Is this something she will outgrow? We don't make a big deal of it, we just clean it up. Most often we rush her outside when we get home so she can do her "I'm happy to see you pee" outside rather than in the house. I've been told it might be submissive urination. Any thoughts? |
May puppies do outgrow the submissive peeing. I don't know if anyone here might have advice on how to help her outgrow it...anyone? |
My brother's dog still does it. I looked into any kind of training tips etc. I found basically train them that when people come to the door house room, wherever, to lie down on their bed or in their area and once they become accustomed to that they won't be excitedly running to people peeing. I do hope it's just a phase of excited puppy |
Yes my Ellie did this the whole time she was a puppy. She would get so excited every time she saw me or my fiancee and she would pee everywhere. I asked the vet if there was anything we could do and she said it was something some dogs do and she would eventually outgrow it and she finally did, but every now and then if she gets super excited she will still have a small little accident. |
Alfie is just over a year old and still has a little piddle when we come home, I know the right way to train this is to ignore him when we get in the house and just go about our normal things, but I have missed him so much I just love to pick him up and get kisses, he is always so excited he twists like a corkscrew between me and hubby. I can't blame him for something that is essentially my fault for not training properly. I keep meaning to try!!;) |
My sister adopted her Yorkie from a previous family (So we don't really know what they did to him, we can only imagine :( ) But he pee's whenever someone he doesn't know comes through the door. And he's 3 years old. |
