Anyone know of a good seat belt harness?
 
Hi all,

I am looking to get Jack a way to secure him in the car. He wants to move around while I am Driving. I am thinking of a strap that can attach to the seatbelt or anchor somehow.

Any input would be highly appreciated!

I use a buddy belt as a harness and I have a snoozer lookout II that he sits it. And it tethers to the seat belt

You might look up the safety tests they did on tethers and such a while back. I think they all failed during sudden stops or simulated crashes. I just put Tibbe in his buckled in airline carrier which also protects him from the airbag as we don't have a backseat for him to ride in. I don't know if a harness that a seatbelt fits through would be more reliable or not but it might since there might be less torque - IDK.

I was recommended to just use the kennels and buckle them up safely. I see nothing safer than that personally. If not someone may feel free to explain. I'm curious. :confused:

I have a buddy belt and a SleepyPod. I don't know about the buddy belt, but the SleepyPod did very well in the crash simulations.

It's not as much fun for for the dog but we make rest/fun stops if we are traveling far and Tibbe has learned to settle in and lie down during the car trips. I wish the carrier could fit on a box or something so it was up and he could see out but don't think that could be as secure. I worry about that airbag killing him in even a little crash as much as I do him crashing into the dashboard or something. At least in the hardshell airline carrier, he's safe from the airbag and flying missiles within the car, too, should the worst happen. I put his bigger stuffed toys in with him to help cushion him. Wish there were a more scenic answer for him though.

The sleepy Pod company is coming out with a new seat belt harness. I thought it went up a little high but when I called them and said I was concerned because of trachea issues with Yorkies they said it did not go up very high . There are supposed to be in stock soon so I am going to check them out Sleepypod® Clickit Right now I attach a leash to Buster's Buddy belt. I have the car seat in the back because of the air bag and have placed cushions around the sides of his car seat to lessen the impact in case we are in an accident.

i sell the pawrider by choke free. I have one in my car, my dh's car and both of my dd have ones in their cars. I use mine with a car seat that is secured by seatbelt.

I really like the pawrider :)

I use the Pawrider and buddy belt. It works great and is very easy.

I use buddy belts and (hmmmm), the harness sold by petsmart for car seats. (Can't think of its actual name) It has a soft wool layer to cushion the actual harness which is awesome for long car rides!

I use a tether that clicks into the seatbelt and a harness.
