I'm new here and new at being the proud owner of a yorkie! I recently got a male yorkie, his name is Tucker. He is truly amazing. He is 4 months now and he is just wonderful. I am wondering if anyone has advice on neudering. He is scheduled for the procedure on 10/10. Will I need to be home with him the next day? |
Welcome to YT and congrats on Tucker! We had Huey fixed at 6 months, 1 day. I don't remember him having any big issues after the surgery, but since I am home during the day & dh at night, there was someone with him. I personally like to be around at least the 1st 24 hours after any type of surgical procedure. I surely wouldn't leave him more than a couple of hours at a time for the first day or two. That's just me...others will probably have more/better advice based on experience than me and my gut feeling. :D Again, welcome & good luck with the Neutering. |
Welcome and congrats on your new boy.. |
Welcome to YT! I agree with Marilyn...you'll feel better about it if you can arrange to stay with your pup at least the first 24 hours after his surgery. |
welcome to YT/ I agree I would stay with him for the first 24 hours if you can// Morgan did not have any problems when he got heutered |
Hello and welcome to YT |
Hi welcome to YT congrats on Tucker |
Welcome! |
welcome to you and tucker. you want to be sure if he has any lingering baby teeth they remove them, although at 4 months that may not be the time. Cedric was 9 months when we did his. ...and they do sell soft cones to be sure he doenst lick if you cannot watch him every second and dont want the hard plastic cone. |
Welcome to YT!! Glad to have you and Tucker. I have a male, I must say males are the best!! I've had Peanut since he was 10wks- he is 6 years old now and our bond grows closer and closer. I had Peanut neutered at 4 months, I had to put him under anesthesia again to get his K-9 Puppy teeth pulled. Which was really no big deal, but it is best to get it done all at once. I would recommend staying home with them the day your bring them home from the surgery and possibly the day after. Dogs will take the surgery different ways- it’s hard to know how Tucker will handle the surgery. Peanut handled the surgery pretty hard.. I had everything set up for him in his crate and he ended up sleeping with DH and I. It worked out better, he was more comfortable. |
If possible I would wait on neutering until older, so you can neuter and pull teeth at same time. I plan on neutering mine at 9 months |
