Cow Hooves Does anyone give Cow Hooves to their yorkies? I bought two of them today and Diesel and Daisy love them. |

My Zoe is only 3 months old, I don't know if I can give him treats yet. Anyway, I heard that anything they make out of animals are from third world countries that MAY have diseases. This could be a total rumor but 3 people have told me that. |

Best chew thing on this planet! I buy cow hooves by bulk for my 'beavers'..lolol..Now I see how they get their name..lolol Having 12 that enjoy chewing I had to find something was safe yet not messy or smelly cuz they sleep in bed. Cow Hooves are the best. But there are some tricks to them. 1. Only buy them in bulk so you can chose the lighted colored ones. The black hooves REEK when wet. The lighted/yellow colored ones do not. 2. BOIL them in a pot on the stove BEFORE you give them to your baby. Who knows where they came from. 3. When they dry out, feel all around the hoof to make sure there are NO hang nails or pieces sticking out. If so, peel or cut it off. 4. Offer them to your baby and you'll be amazed how much they love them and they last forever. (Shut out to my mom (Thanks Mom!)who taught me these secrets, she gave them to her Rotties) They are not greasy or messy. **Note: when they get small; just a little too big to fit in your furbabies mouth. Pitch'em and get fresh one to avoid the possibility of choking.** ***Caution!!*** Make sure you pick them up before bed and put them away. They hurt like HE&@!! if you step on them in the middle of the night  |

Diesel and Diasy just got into one heck of a fight over them. I have plenty, so its not like they had to share one. They sounded like a bunch of pit bulls fighting. I guess they wont be getting them anymore. Greenies were the same way. |

I have a farmer with a pasture and horses behind my house. My two older dogs are constantly bringing home hooves that the farmer has trimmed off his horses. They think they are just wonderful. And - they chew on them forever. They seem to be perfectly safe. They have been doing this for several years. Carol Jean |

We bought Sully a cow hoof from PetSmart about a year ago and it lasted about two hours before my husband and I COULDN'T TAKE THE STENCH ANYMORE!!!!! So, it's great to know that the lighter ones don't stink so bad and that we should boil them. Awesome advice; it is greatly appreciated. Maybe we'll give the cow hoof idea another go - since last year its' become a big joke b/c it smelled SOOOOO BADDDD. |

In the petedge magazine (and online) they have filled cow hooves with cheese, peanut butter, and beef. Sounds pretty interesting to me, though I have never tried them. |

 Bumping up!! :yorkiesar :yorkietal |

 are they digestable? |

 and are they fattening? |

I believe they are digestable. They get warn down by the gnawing. They don't bite off pieces persay. I don't know if they are fattening or not. I wouldn't think they are, they are very dry. |

hey all, just ordered a bunch of cow hooves from, www.merrickpetcare.com. free shipping too |

I just bought 2 light colored cow hooves at the store today for 59 cents each. I boiled them for a while, what a smell, UGH !!!!! I put them in front of the girls and so far they could care less about chewing on them. Maybe in time, if not I didn't loose much money for getting to try them. :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
