Hello everyone,

I am now a 1st time “daddy” of a yorkie namedMax. I have to admit I wanted a GermanShepherd and she wanted a yorkie. So wecame to a “compromise” and got a yorkie. But after about a month this dog is winning my heart. Smart, playful, lovable – how can someone notmelt for this dog? He picks up commands afterabout 3 tries. He was very easy to padtrain. And his poo is a heck of a loteasier to clean up than a shepherd. Icome home from work, lay on the floor in the family room and yell “Daddy’shome!” He comes running with his tail wagging so hard his whole butt is goingback and forth. We are going through theobligatory puppy training classes and the teacher took us to the side and saidMax would be a great dog to go for the trick title certificate. She said Max was the only dog in the classshe thought was capable (yea I know – she probably said that to all the owners)of earning it. So we start those lessonsthis Friday.

This board seems to be full of some very knowledgeablepeople and I am glad we found it.

I’ll post some pics soon.

Yep, you've been bitten by the Yorkie-bug. It is a proven fact that is is impossible not to fall in love with these babies (Ok, so maybe that's not an actual scientific fact, but still true):D Don't be afriad to post any questions you have and be sure to post pictures, we love pictures on here!

Welcome to YT! You'll find so much information here! I'm so glad you are falling in love with Max. I had a friend who wanted a Yorkie and her DH wanted another Sheppard, and they came home with a Sheppard. That was 8 years ago! She's still waiting for her Yorkie! :) I love your compromise with your wife! :) Would love to see pics of Max!! Great job on the training also!

Lol you men. My DH wanted a Boxer but we got a yorkie and he turned into daddy's little man. So then we of course had to have another little yorkie, a girl this time for mamma lol. Don't be surprised if you are adding another in the future. Welcome to YT.

Hi Bob :) My hubbie "compromised" 10 years ago too.He wanted a chihuahua and I wanted a yorkie, so we got a yorkie lol....then another, then another, and another and now, Milo and Bella are our 4th and 5th yorkies :D
They're like potatoe chips, you can just have one lol.

My husband was hooked after just a couple of days, and now our family wouldent be complete without these little "walking wigs" (as my kids lovlingly call them lol) running around the house :D

I don't doubt that in the near future, you may find yourself looking for furkid #2 :D

Welcome, and post pics!!! I'm sure he's just adorable :D

Thank you for all your warm welcomes. Since we both work long hours, she takes him to work Mon-Thurs and Friday is "daddy day". I was going to post a pic of him napping but I have to figure out how to get it down to 200kb
