I don't know if my yorkie is pregnant?? My yorkie, princess was in heat for her second time. I didn't want to breed her but she tied with a male on July 29,2013. I've been told dogs are pregnant for around 63 days which would means she would be due in or around 2 1/2 more weeks. Her belly seems a little more firm than usual but she doesn't seem to look pregnant(her belly isn't that big,like in pictures I've seen of other pregnant yorkies) any thoughts?? If she is pregnant today would be day 46 |
You could take her to her vet to find out for sure and while you are there if she isn't pregnant you could make her an appointment to be spayed. That way you wouldn't have to worry :). |
I doubt she's pregnant, but definitely take her to the vet to find out for sure, and have her spayed. |
Is her stomach harder? Does her breast become bigger, and do she let you squeeze them (if so, is there any milk?) Are the any change in her behavior? I wouldn't compare her to other dogs, because they may be bigger/smaller, have more puppies and so on.. I would definitely take her to the veterinary.. |
I hope she's not pregnant...what breed, size, age is the male dog? Did you know they can get a sexually transmitted disease called brucellosis, where it will sterilize the male & abort the puppies in the female? |
If you've only got 2 1/2 more weeks then you need to get her to a vet and have an X-ray around day 49 to see how many (if any) pups there are and see if she has a wide enough pelvis to pass the pups. You need to get your self prepared financially to possibly have to pay for an emergency c-section or risk losing both your dog and the pups. You need to find someone who can help you deliver the pups safely and correctly or make arrangements to have her stay with your vet so she can be watched like a hawk for complications. Time is not on your side to get prepared at this point. This thread was just posted today and is an example of what can happen. One answer. Short and obvious. Vet now! And if she ends up being not pregnant, make an appt for spaying. If you don't want a dog pregnant, spaying works every time. ;) |
