Hi im new heres my story I live in Idaho and I went on this big search to find the perfect breed for my family. after researching and looking I found that the yorkie breed was for our family. so back to the drawing board I went to find a breeder. I came across an ad for a 5 month old AKC female. she was beautiful. after talking to the breeder, I sent a deposit then 2 days later drove to Salt lake city Utah to pick her up. LOVE at first sight was my reaction. but what really stole my heart was how awesome she did with my daughter who was 6 months old. fast forward a few months. she had the long hair and needed a grooming so we took her to a local groomer and 1 hour later I got a call..She wasn't breathing. I rushed to the groomers picked my baby up and took her to the vets. in less then 3 hours she died. my heart broke. today she would have been 1 year old! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABYGIRL! now after a few months without her..my home, heart, and life feel empty. so I researched once again and I found a breeder closer to me. and pups were born Sept. 5TH. I have a few months to wait before I can get her but im so excited. I cant wait. |
oh my, that is just awful my heart aches for you. This is the second grooming nightmare I have read in the past two days. Did you ever find out what caused it and was it her first time at the groomers. I am so sorry for your loss and am glad you have found Yorkie Talk, you will find our sight both a source of comfort and support as you bring your new puppy home. Welcome to Yorkie Talk |
What in the world happened to her????????!!!!!!! Did you have an autopsy done so you would know if the groomer had done something....like let her smother to death in one of those cage dryers.....or if it was something congenital that the breeder would refund your money?????? I am so sorry you went thru this, absolutely heartbreaking...... |
Oh my :-( I am so so sorry for your loss. I would be broken hearted. I was just talking to my daughter last night about groomers, because I have. Yorkie, and she has a maltipoo puppy. I was just telling her about that story I read on here, and had already been researching reputable mobile groomers in my area. I started looking right after I rescued Gizmo, because he was so so matted up. I have gotten most of the mats out in small sessions with him over the last month by using my fingers to try and unravel many of them. I have found a mobile groomer that many friends use, that have small breeds. I am too afraid to leave him at a groomer, once I learned how long they have to stay there. With a mobile groomer I can sneak out to their van and make sure Gizmo is doing well, plus I can also get all 3 of my kitties groomed at the same time. Good luck with your new baby, and again I am so sorry you have had to suffer such heartache xoxo |
So sorry for you! Congrats on getting a new baby!! Welcome! |
Another groomer nightmare. Went to petsense for puppy food today and they offered a puppy special for 5.00. What a deal, but after hearing not just this but other stories...I am going to keep grooming him myself. It is a new store and I do not know the groomer. My 5 month puppy is too small 2 3/4 lbs. and too precious for me to leave at a groomer. |
I did have the test done and she was hit. HARD. I tried going through the legal way and because her grooming salon is in her home people in and out the lawyer said it woild be a hard case. Now I rrfuse to take any of my babies there. And yes her very first time going. I had her cremated and her ashes are in a build a bear. She was my daughters best friend. I miss that baby. |
OMG, I am sooooo sorry for you & that sweet baby. That just makes me crazy!:mad::mad: |
I am so very sorry for your tragic loss of your precious baby. She was hit? This makes me even sicker. That poor baby...and you! I can't imagine there not being a case, as you took a healthy yorkie and that groomer was responsible for your baby while she was there. How heart wrenching. I'm so glad you are getting a new baby to help heal your broken heart. |
I am very sorry to hear this story. It makes me ill. What sick person would hit a 4lb yorkie or any animal for that matter. I am very anti-groomers. We rarely go to a groomer however, we used a groomer once and Sophie came back with a cut in her belly that was bleeding. We also made the groomer pay for the vet bill and the grooming visit(for whatever that was worth) was also no charge, not that any of it is a consolation. I have never been a big fan of groomers to begin with. My wife is the one who insisted, now she sees it my way. The very few times after the incident that we went to a groomer, my wife stayed and watched(against the groomers wishes). This was a while back and I have but my foot down on using groomers anymore. We always get her nails cut at the vets and we can brush her hair and bathe her ourselves. My advice: stay far away from groomers, the will never love your furry family member like you do. |
Sorry for your loss. It had to be very hard for you and not easy to get over if you ever can. I at least hope the groomer that hit her no longer works there and she never works again. |
So very sorry for your loss. My heart is breaking for you. |
oh my im am so very sorry for your loss. i wish your baby a very happy 1st birthday and may she rip. |
@bunnyfufu, I am so sorry for the horrible, unnecessary loss of you precious pup. I once heard that pet grooming is a job with the fastest "burnout" rate; people just get tired and impatient with dogs. Even if they basically like dogs, they don't love the one on the table as much as you do, so they get impatient when the dog doesn't behave as they would like, and that's when dogs get abused. That is why I don't take mine to the groomer. They may not look as perfect when I groom them, but all 4 of them look pretty darn good and have gotten used to the routine. Good Luck with your new pup. I wish you nothing but health and happiness with the new girl, and we can't wait to meet her too. |
I will never go to a groomer again. My baby will go to the vet for nail clippings and ill groom myself. I like the whole long hair look so she will grow her hair out. I've been watching youtube videos to help learn. Yo baby was only 3.5 pounds. She was so friendly and loving. She would never hurt anyone and for someone wether it was the groomer her assistant family members they should have been reliable for her death. She never said sorry or offered to pay for anything. |
