I just got my second yorkie 1 Attachment(s) I am new to YT and just wanted to get some advice on acquainting my 3 year old male (Peanut) to his new (8 week old male) friend Gus. Peanut always loves other dogs, but I am not sure he is going to take well to sharing his home with another dog. I decided to get another yorkie so he would have a friend to play with while I am at work (and because who can resist an adorable baby yorkie??). I have read other posts on here about this, I just wanted some suggestions for my specificAttachment 391585 situation. :):aimeeyork I will get a picture posted of peanut when I get a chance! |
Wow 8 weeks old. He's just a tiny little angel. I've never had a problem with introducing a new dog but I never fuss over the newbie in front of the older dog. I'd keep an eye on Peanut because not meaning to he could seriously hurt Gus. I usually sit on the floor with both dogs and talk to them in a calm voice. Sitting will help you control Gus because I'm sure he's full of it and will probably want to investigate Peanut. I definitely would crate Gus at night until he's housebroken and until he can be trusted not to annoy the snot out of Peanut. Peanut will accept him but it takes some time because he's no longer number 1. Give him lots of love and soon he and Gus will be best of friends. Post pics. |

Congratulations! Gus is adorable. Just give them time and Peanut extra attention. They will become best friends quickly. |
Gus is a real cutie.I know if I brought a little one home my little Kinder would surely be jealous. Before you know it your babies will be playing together. Enjoy your two cuties.Susan |
