Ella was spayed not there is a lump My Gabriella was spayed four days ago. Today there is a firm lump or knot under the incision. The area seems a little discolored but doesn't seem to be painful and isn't oozing. Should I be concerned or is this normal? |
Is the knot hard or mushy ? & what do you mean by discolored ? id it really red or just a bit pink. Does the knot look like it could be blood filled as in purple ? |
It's more hard than mushy. Not really red or purple just more pink than the rest of her skin. |

Yes it is normal for a bit of a knot & swelling & some dogs have it worse then others but after some time, even wks to months it will go down. |
Hello, I just got Roxy Spayed there last week and she also had a bit of a lump after 4 days. I was concerned too as it looked like the stitches were cutting into her skin. I was passing the vet so popped in and they told me to put some sudocreme on it and the next day the lump had gone right down and the redness had cleared. Check with your vet first, no harm in being over cautious just in case. It might only be a sudocreme job like Roxy's :) |
It is MORE THAN LIKELY, it is nothing.....but it could be an incisional hernia....a small loop of bowel caught up in the incision......I would have the vet look at it............. |

We can all give or opinions based on experience and I highly suspect it really is "nothing but normal swelling". However, as with any medical issue, we are not vets and haven't even seen a picture (not that it would matter since we are not vets). Bottom line, we give you experienced based support and calming and what we think but always always call and talk to your vet about any medical issue/question to be safe, ok? :) Praying little Ella heals up fast and is running and playing and controlling you...oops, I mean entertaining you..hehe...very soon! :D ;) |
