Scooter just came home from the dentist I've been a nervous wreck wanting today to be over. Scooter had his teeth cleaned 11/2011 but he's been having terrible breath so I took him to a vet who only does dental work for dogs and cats. Expensive yes but I feel that Scooter received far, far better care than when I took him last time to a new vet in the neighborhood. He had an abscess and a loose tooth. He had one premolar pulled along with 2 incisors. I feel like the worst pet owner in the universe that I didn't know he was having those problems. I'm so angry with the vet who did the cleaning last time because she didn't see he was having problems. Anyway he's sleeping it off and I know he'll be much better off now. I brush his teeth every other day but I'm so filled with guilt now. Bad Mommy.:cry8: |
Genetics plays a big part in tooth health... don't feel bad... your dental regime may have prevented it from being worse! |
Awww ((hugs)) Don’t feel like a bad Mommy- sometimes things just happen. It is very hard to keep tabs in their mouth. Plus the Vet should have said something to you.. All you can do moving forward is look in his mouth often, make sure all is well. Try not to get too upset over it, things happen. What matters is Scooter has a clean mouth now.. I will be sending good thoughts to Scooter, hope he is back up to his normal self soon!! :D |
I don't know if you should be angry with the vet who did the last teeth cleaning-that was almost 2 years ago & a lot changes in a dog's mouth in 2 years! Or am I reading something wrong? |
I just find it hard to believe that so much could go wrong in that amount of time. I guess I'm over reacting, I just have had a very stress full day worrying about my baby. |
I don't think it's fair to blame the other vet. That was 2 years ago... A lot can change in these little guys' mouths in 2 years. Just be thankful you found out and fixed the problem :) |
