Dear JoJo,

Nearly 5 years ago I brought you home and my life has never been the same. I will never forget the moment the breeder came to the door with you in his arms, with those adorably huge floppy ears and the cutest little face I'd ever seen. I instantly fell in love. I didn't care that you were the so-called "reject" because you were the biggest in the litter and your ears were big and floppy. You were perfect to me!

Now, I have had my challenges with you...from your desire to mark your territory on every single couch, wall, table leg, pole, etc., to barking at everything under the sun including the wind, to stealing tissues and socks like there's no tomorrow...but these crazy antics only make me love you more.

Oh how I love the way you squeal with delight and dance around when I come home, whether I was gone for 10 minutes or 10 hours, you are always so incredibly excited to see me again and I pick you up and your tail is wagging so fast and furious and you can't stop giving me kisses!

You are by far the sneakiest, most stubborn dog I've ever owned, yet these qualities make me love you even more. You know very well when you've been naughty and you always try to get back on my good side by cuddling up to me and giving me kisses, with your head down and your sad little eyes peering up at me. Oh, you sure know how to manipulate me! Because how could I ever resist those eyes.

You can never sleep unless you are cuddled right up against me, and when you're tired you wait for me to lift up the covers so you can crawl underneath and find your sweet spot right against my tummy. You are my eternal shadow, following me even to the bathroom and panic when I'm out of your sight for even a moment. The exception to this is when you're being sneaky with a tissue or sock or a piece of food...but I'm on to you now!

I can't remember the last time I reached under my pillow or couch cushion and didn't find a treat you'd hidden for later, or have taken a shower without your little head peering in through the curtain trying to catch stray water with your tongue.

It doesn't matter that you annihilate a squeaky toy within 5 minutes that cost me $10, or that hate me when I clip your nails, or that taking you on a car ride makes me question life...I couldn't love you more.

So Happy 5th Birthday to my sweet little JoJo, I couldn't imagine my life these past few years without your little furbutt in it!!
