Two New Breeders I'm Looking At Has any one heard of these breeders Marissa *Breeds Finest* - About Us Betty Home. Just looking for any opinions of them both of anyone heard of them |
I wouldn't purchase from either one of them. First link breeds for tinies while warning about teacups. Health guarantee is worthless in my opinion. Allows breeding rights in some cases, which I read that if you pay for it they'll allow full registration. Also breeds "rare" colors - fault that they charge more money for. The second - ugh. No contact or health guarantee on site. Dresses the babies for photos. The "Yorkie hotel & spa" - another ugh. Females are off color and look really small. Good luck with your search and welcome to YorkieTalk! |
sheesh ! you just shut both of the opinions down but thank you very much for your advice |
options down ** |
The first one is purposely breeding off-standard Yorkies, which to many people is a red flag. She also claims champion lines, yet none of her breeding dogs are Ch. That's a lot like saying you have a Miss America and a Mr. Universe in your family tree. Just because they are out on those limbs doesn't mean that you are going to produce 6 foot tall super models. Her health guarantee is suspect, too. No guarantee against knees or heart defects. Then there is this little gem: Quote:

Yup, def pass on the first one for sure. The second one doesn't really bother me too much other than I agree her breeding females are a bit small. |

Keep looking Several red flags in my opinion. I would keep looking elsewhere. |

It is great that you are asking! Keep posting sites if you come across breeders that you are interested in. I'm sure you will eventually find a reputable breeder :) I would however advise against purchasing a puppy online. Some of the best breeders won't have a website. |
There locally around me I was just showing you guys the site to see if anyone heard anything about them the 2nd one seems like better breeder to me she's really nice has the guarantee and everything but no puppies available at the momemt I spoke to her several times haven't visited her yet she would like me to to meet her family n the mother n father to a litter she will be having shortly but I just can't see my self putting down 500.00 for a puppy that isn't born ..it's non refundable deposit I can receive my deposit back if the mother doesn't have a male because that's what I'm looking for or if anything is wrong with male once he goes to his first doctors visit |
I always recommend the YTCA, it's the mother club for Yorkies and there usually is a breeder in most states. These breeders breed to standard and don't breed to suit the public latest buying whims. You still need to visit the breeders home in person. If you buy from a good breeder, she'll be able to help you with you pup for the rest of it's life and she can also help you decide if a Yorkie is right for you. Personally, unless I had seen multiple pups from a breeder and knew for sure that she has healthy lines and truly stands behind her pups, I would not feel comfortable putting down a non-refundable deposit. Search the net for references to her, too. You would be surprised at what you find! For instance, she sells at nextdaypets.com- one of my pet peeve sites. |

Nope and Nope...keep looking and keep asking we are her for ya! |
Excellent Read Quote:
Excellent read for anyone making a new puppy purchase! Occasionally new owners are mislead by the AKC label. This guide provides excellent information that most new buyers need to know to prevent future problems. Thanks for sharing! |
Trust me, in our area (the East Coast), there are PLENTY of great breeders. Your best bet is to visit the breeder of choice. The YTCA chapters in NY & NJ list some wonderful breeders. And I can tell you from experience, that several of the YTCA breeders don't have the fanciest websites - they DO have beautiful dogs, however. Good luck. |
We've told you what to avoid, but maybe it would help to show you what a great breeder and their contract looks like. This person is one of my favorite breeders here on YT. Her dogs are beautiful and most importantly, she stands behind the health of them. IMO, she goes above and beyond. Yorkie Health Guarantee Amazing Yorkies - AKC Yorkie Show Breeder - Show Prospects or Quality Pets ETA: I'm not ignoring the other great breeders on here (you know who you are). I just think that Deb's contract is one of the most straightforward and easiest for new owners to try and understand what we are telling people to look for. |
If your looking for a TRUE reputable breeder. Here and Ytca is a great start. Most people here actually do want the best for you and the puppy. I'm no PRO. But I will tell you right now I wouldn't purchase from either. The 1st one cant spell correctly. If you want to call yourself reputable. The 1st step is to seem reputable. 2nd one tells you your puppy kit includes clothes. Yes I will have my babies dressed up. But 1st things first include me with REAL tools that will help me take care of my baby. I think that's just the beginning to how I feel about that. How can you pick if the owner approves of their baby wearing clothes. Some don't. That's just basic. If we cant get past the 1st thoughts coming off great. I automatically check em off my list and keep on investigating. This may be a timely process. Especially if your as picky as you should be. So that we may help you better. Here's some ?s we can use to lead you the right direction. Where are you located? Do you have a vet already picked out.? NEVER let your baby come home before 12 weeks. That is one of the most selfish things the buyer and breeder can do. Some circumstances such as rescue etc. Are permittable but no breeder that truly cares for her pups will EVER allow letting go before 12 weeks. Please ask ?s we are here so that we can make sure you have many healthy years with the perfect pup for you.! |
this is the place I went to to find my next yorkie which will be next year// lots ok knowledgeable people here |
I think she found her puppy already. :) |
