Cloud 9 How to wash? Hey all you cloud 9 lovers out there! Is there a special way to wash the cloud nine without hurting or ruining it? Kaji got one recently (Thanks P and Uni!!) and it needs a bit freshening up. Any tips or advice? Thanks!! |
Mine would practically shut down my washing machine as I never could balance out the weight and it got vicious, causing machine to make a lot of racket and dance around on the floor and it's very heavy duty. :( Had to stop Tibbe from using it because of that. Scared my washer couldn't take it and never could get enough towels, etc., to balance it without adding a bunch of them and that was a big hassle as I never had to wash that many - always had to rewash a bunch of clean ones. I guess my washing machine is too old to handle it or something. I hate it, too, as Tibbe loved that bed!!!!!!!!!! It was the best bed he ever had but just too hard on my washing machine. :( |
Jeanie, you are the first person I have ever heard say that. Did you just put it in by itself? There is NO reason for that to put a machine off balance because it is incredibly lightweight...but you cannot wash anything that will stay put on one side of the washer because that will put the machine off balance. I wash my Cloud Nine beds all of the time and have never had an issue. I either do two at a time or put something else on the other side when washing. They are not heavy BUT they will stay put in the one side, therefore you need something to put on the other side. |

I wash all five of my cloud nines in my front- loader machine every week. No problems here. Love the beds. I wash on normal using hot water cycle and add 1/4 cup borax and then I dry on permanent press/normal heat. |
Jeanie, did you buy your bed from YHR? There are people selling copies, but I don't know what they stuff them with. Would love to speak with you and see if we can help you figure out why you had such problems. |

I would suggest buying a second one and washing them together to balance the load. And wash on gentle cycle maybe? If you have a cotton bed you might want to get a fleece bed for warm winter days. I hope you can figure something out because these are such nice snuggly soft beds. We love ours. |
Linda, I tried every combination from one to 6 towels to try to balance that dang machine! Was too scared finally to keep it up but it's not your's or the design's fault - it's that old machine. It's a true working antigue. It was my mom's and from when I was a teenager! An old Kenmore and from our old home from when I was young. I love the old thing and it's only been repaired 3 times in all of these years and works like a charm from my kid brother's school clothes to my things now(!) except for on that big ball of polyfill. BUT IT IS THE MACHINE - not your YHR Cloud 9. It's a machine from the 1960's and amazing that it works at all and it does. I told my mom I would always use it and I do! Just doesn't have the spin ability to handle this situation for some reason. Amazing it still works after the lifetimes and moves it's been through! :) As soon as it "dies", we're getting Tibbe a new Cloud 9 bed in a heartbeat!!!!!!! |

Mine is faux fur, and i wash it on delicate cycle with warm water, then dry on permanent press. Never had a problem. Comes out like new! |

I totally get it about the antique washing machine. I used to have one of those until I got married. Luckily my hubby came with a newer washer and dryer. ;) |

I gave the bed to a rescue who I am sure has nice, modern machines for washing their dogs' beds and no doubt the dogs there are getting some very good use out of it. Tibbe did search for it for days after it was gone, though. We kept it up against the front of the couch in the den and he could sleep on it and still be near me here on the couch. I stacked pillows there but he wasn't as happy with them and wouldn't use them at all, finally gave up on sleeping there after he'd go to get on his Cloud 9 bed and just saw pillows instead. I got a lot of stinkeye looks for taking his favorite bed! Thankfully he finally adjusted to it not being there and let up on checking for it, glaring at me! :eek: |
