First time yorkie buyer is it weird for a breeder not to allow you to come to their home to see the puppies before purchasing or putting down a deposit ? the breeder is really nice and seem like they know their stuff but said they had a bad experience in the past with inviting people over so they send pictures.videos & weekly updates of the puppy you choose before they go home ...Any Suggestions |
In short - it's a flag if you can't go to the house. There are sometimes circumstances that would prevent it puppies sick, etc. BUT I would personally treat it as a flag. as impish said you want to see the puppies first try finding a breeder through your kennal club |
Did they give a reason as to why no home visits? I know one breeder on this site had a bad experience with parvo that closed down her breeding program for a time and cost her thousands and thousands of dollars in vet bills and preventative treatment and so won't let anyone in to see the pups until fully vaccinated. I agree with the others that as a rule, that is a red flag, but there are exceptions to every rule. Could the breeder be more specific with the answer instead of a broad "bad experience in the past"? I would think if it were a safety issue such as parvo prevention, they would be proud to volunteer that it is for the welfare of the pups. |
yea that's what I was thinking I was telling her about coming to see them & she said to be honest with me she doesn't allow people to come to get home anymore she had a very bad experience that she'll never wanna put her self in again |
We got both of our Biewers through the Internet. The wife and I tried to read as much feedback from both Biewers as we can. We were unable to visit them both due to distance. But the one lady after reading comments and seeing pictures plus being liscenced by the state I felt at eased. Over all do your research as much as you can. |
Biewer guy I looked up stuff about her but I don't think she's licensed i found her on EBay classified the puppies come with there shots ..de wormed a bag of goodies & a certificate from a licensed vet . No warrantee on health or anything |
To feel safe the offer a at least a one year. Also, if you haven't try and use puppy find instead of eBay. There are something's I trust on eBay and others I do not. But that is just my opinion. |

Biewer guy-what kind of license?? Not a USDA license, is it? OP-when do you get to see them and where? How do you chose which puppy you want? Just from what you've said, I would really look carefully at this breeder. |
The breeder is just liscenced my the State Of Florida, the department of agriculture. I know to some that might not mean much at all, but after extensive background check the breeder we got our first Biewer was really wonderful and you can tell from the pictures very real. The second breeder was good as well, don't get me wrong. |
When I say eBay they just put there ads up & you have to contact them you can't physically purchase them from eBay I found several AKC breeders on there but they already had their pups sold on deposited on this one isn't a AKC breeder & you guys are making me more nervous but totally appreciate the advice & help because it did sound kind of odd to me not being able to come choose one but thru photos n videos n her telling me there personality to pick one |
A puppy mill in my old state gave the same answer as your breeder. Of course they're not going to let you come & see their puppy mill or backyard operation. She doesn't want you in her house but it's okay to pick them up at the in-laws house? Makes no sense. |
dolly I know I was saying that's quit odd but I completely over looked it smh due to her personality and knowledge of the puppies she only had 5 and showed me the parents and everything |
What do you mean "showed you the parents"? What makes you think she has no other pups? |
