Help with Annie Is there a Yorkie Crisis Center that you can call for new owners in need of some therapy!!:) I'm trying to get Annie to use wee wee pads. I take her to the spot, stay there with her for sometimes as long as 45 minutes. As soon as I think she is not going to go, flash!! she goes right in front of the refrigerator!! I immediately take her back to her pads, and I get that adorable stare!! I have a wire kennel and a play pen. I put her in the kennel in the kitchen at night, woke up next morning to all these little smears of blood on her blanket and Annie has a sore on the top of her nose!! Checked the kennel, nothing rough or sharp inside or out. Hubby suggested play pen because it's soft. Woke up next morning, more smears of blood on her wee wee pad (which she used to potty on!! Yeah!!) and no sign of blood on play pen! Now she has a bigger, deeper wound on the top of her nose! I am so heartbroken because I don't know what to do to help her!! Help!! |
Wow. No advise here but that is a strange occurrence. Poor baby. Hope you solve is soon. |
Oh no! Poor Annie. I know that doggies can rub their noses on crates and xpens -- just sticking their noses through the bars -- and lose hair. Do you have a video camera you can set up? I used my computer camera to video my boys to see what they were doing when I had to leave them alone. Mac computers allow you to watch in fast forward. For potty training, limit her freedom to a smallish area with the pad until she gets the hang of it. Praise her profusely when she does it right and give her a small treat like a single kibble. |
One trick is to put the peepad where she prefers to go, train praise and treat for a while, then try moving the pad closer to where you want it to be. |
Thanks everyone for your great advice. This morning Annie had no blood smears in her play pen!! Keeping my fingers crossed that she is starting to understand the whole bedtime routine. |
Yay! WTG Annie! |
