I'm trying to find where my dogs went In April, I was one of those people who was walking away from an underwater mortgage. The only problem I had was 4 Yorkies that I loved with my life. When I finally came to the realization that I could not rent a house with 4 dogs, I called the Troup County, Georgia Humane Society. When I took the dogs over to them I discovered that they had gone the extra mile and contacted a Yorkie rescue group and my dogs would be picked up by them. I was in to much pain and crying too much to get some information about the rescue group. I am well settled now with my remaining dog, Beanie. However not a day goes by that I do not get some reminder of the other dogs Raina, Gus and Wally. If I could find them I would only want to know that they do have good homes. If you want their registration papers, I still have them. Raina is a 7 year old female with floppy ears. She has a small green dot tattoo on her belly indicating that she is spayed. Gus is a 6 year old male with erect ears. He was not neutered when I gave him up. Wally is celebrating his 3rd birthday and he has floppy ears like his mother Raina. Wally was neutered when I gave him up. He also had a green dot tattoo on his tummy since he was neutered at the same clinic as Raina. If you have adopted one of these dogs, please contact me. I need to know that they are happy. You may leave a private message for me here or email me at mrawlin3@gmail.com. :aimeeyork |
I am so sorry you had to give up any of your Yorkie babies. That is very sad, and I hope you are able to find them. Will the rescue you took them to give you any information? Very sad...I am so sorry... |
What a sad story. I'm sorry you had to give up your pups under those difficult circumstances. Typically, rescue groups have very strict rules about where they place dogs. Applicants have to go through interviews, home visits and vet checks. I'm sure your babies are being well taken care of. :) I'm sure that Raina, Gus & Wally miss you as much as you miss them. I hope that somehow you can find peace of mind. |
That's so sad.... Makes me get all teary just thinking about something like that happening. Sorry to ask but I'm curious... Can't you call the rescue and ask where the pups went? Or is there some sort of privacy law that won't allow that? |
I'd call the Humane Society & ask which Yorkie Rescue picks up the Yorkies there. Then I'd write a letter to the new parent of each dog (3 letters) & tell them things about the dog & include the registration papers. Ask the new parents if they could please let you know by letter via the rescue group how things are going. I don't see how the rescue group could object to that. I'm sorry for your situation but I'm sure the dogs are in loving homes now. Please let us know if you make any progress with the search. |
The rescue group might have cards or a brochure there at the humane society but if they don't, I'll bet one of the workers knows which ones frequent the place and have taken dogs recently. You could call the rescue groups until you find the one who did, perhaps, but I highly doubt if they will tell you anything out of respect of the privacy of the new owners. They might contact and ask the owners to contact you but I doubt most them would go to that trouble now. I'm sure sorry that you had to come to this and know you are probably still in a lot of pain. Yorkies seem resilient, practical little creatures are are likely settled in and happy in their new homes if the rescue did proper screening. Surely the place you gave them up to wouldn't deal with a rescue that didn't have good criteria for dog placement to avoid boomerang dogs. I'd sure like to believe that, anyway. |
Wow, how terribly sad. |
I know how hard it is to make decisions like this, but I can't imagine what it must be like to personally have to give up not one but three dogs. But please know that you made the right decision. It was best for the dogs and for you. I'm sure you can call and ask the shelter which rescue they work with. And perhaps you can talk to someone at the rescue group, but please understand that many rescue groups will not disclose who the dogs went to. Even if they are still in foster care, they are in good hands, and if they were placed, know that they are in a good home. |

Thank for your suggestions Everyone has had wonderful suggestions. I think I will call the Humane Society and make a personal visit if necessary to find out exactly what rescue group they contacted. The lady I spoke to on the phone was at the Humane Society when I took the dogs in. She told all of the workers that the three dogs were to be put together because the rescue group would be coming for them. She was so kind in recording their names and ages. I didn't think to take their papers in with them. Even if they have not been adopted yet, my lease restricts me to only 1 pet. The decision which dog to keep was horrible. Raina was my first Yorkie. I had gotten her when she was 8 weeks old. Guy was a great dog, he was so smart and fearless. Wally was my baby. He was born in my bedroom and I was the first human to touch him. I love Beanie. I got her from a breeder when she was 8 weeks old. I don't think the breeder made any effort to socialize her puppies. Beanie is frightened of everything. She is so attached to me that she is always in the same room with me. She would have been traumatized by a separation from me. The others would all adjust to new homes so well that I knew what I had to do. I know that the rescue groups vet their adopter very carefully. Today is Wally's 3rd birthday and that may be why I suddenly feel the need to contact their new homes. I am still going to check with the Humane Society about which rescue group they contacted. The new families may want the registration papers. :aimeeyork I think I need to change my signature! |
I am sorry you had to let your pups go. It is a very hard thing to do. I agree with everyone about contacting the Humane Society. Good luck |
Again... I'm very sorry that you had to let them go. I hope you get to find the answers you're searching for... |
I am not sure about your area but most do not have a ton or yorkie rescue groups, you could start goggling your area for yorkie rescue groups and yorkies that are up for adoption to see if you can find the local groups. |
