What joy Gizmo has brought us. Last night while my husband was caring for Gizmo, while I was trying to get pain under control on my back, I could hear my husband just cracking up laughing while he was playing with him. The last 4 years have been rough. I had a spinal cord surgery that left me partially paralyzed, although I can still walk for the most part, things are very difficult for me medically and I've had at least 10 following surgeries for other things it has caused through out my body due to loss, of certain functions. I don't talk about it much. Then in June my husbands company, where he works as an industrial fire fighter was sold, so there's been so much stress for us. My pain doctor knows how much I love animals, as I am always talking about my cats every month I go in, and he was the one who suggested I get a dog, for physical therapy as well as companionship, as my husband works a lot of overtime, so kind of like a service dog as I am handicapped. Well Gizmo came along and needed rescuing, so it was the perfect situation. I think I bonded with him so much so quickly, because he almost died and so did I. Hearing my hubby just laughing so much at him last night while playing, made me realize I hadn't heard that in so many years, and it brought tears to my eyes, tears of happiness, because it had hit me how much joy such a little pup, has brought into our home. It was so wonderful to realize how much laughter we now hear constantly :-) this all thanks to little Gizmo, who made me see I can still laugh at the top of my lungs, and forget for a while the pain :-) I will have to give a big thank you to my Doctor at the next appt. or making the suggestion of me getting a dog xoxo |
Very touching story! I'm glad that Gizmo has brought joy into your life! |
Aww, that's just wonderful to hear! It's amazing the love and happiness these little creatures can bring into our lives. I'm glad Gizmo has given you & your hubby some much needed joy :) |
What a wonderful story! Thank you for sharing :) Dogs are amazing creatures and they bring out the best in people, I'm so glad to hear about what little Gizmo has done for your family. |
I used to take my rescue cat Lucy to the dog park on a leash, and she also was a volunteer pet at UCLA's burn unit for children. but she's getting too old at 13 years old, and now just likes to ride in the car :-) what is so funny though is, she is becoming Gizmos best friend. They have a very strange relationship because they don't know how to communicate very well. The one thing they have figured out, is they can both growl, so they growl at each other, and Gizmo follows Lucy around everywhere. Lucy will then turn around and bop Gizmo in the head with only the pad of her paw, kind of like whack the mole in arcade games haha. My husband wasn't convinced they were friends till I made him really sit and watch their interaction. It's pretty cute :-) also every time Lucy hears gizmo is out to play downstairs, she hurries down to watch him lol. This is a cat who used to sleep all day long. I expected no less from Lucy than her adopting Gizmo though, as she has been a adoptive mama to all the litters of feral kitties I've raised, even though she's actually never had babies kitties of her own. I was very curious is she would adopt Gizmo since he's a puppy, but true to form she's taking it all in stride and now has a baby puppy named Gizmo lol |
I am so sorry you have gone through the pain and surgeries. I am so glad that he is bringing such joy to your home. Sometimes the smallest thing can change your life for the better. Cats are very funny creatures. They march to their own drum and no one is going to change them. But I would not have it any other way. Mine all perch around the living room while Galen zoomies around the room lol and every once in a while he gets the bop from one of them too |
I'm very happy that you, your husband, and your cat now have Gizmo to brighten your days. And how Gizmo has found such a loving family to be part of. I can only imagine how hard things have been for you guys. How a little 4 legged furry animal can make ones life so much better... :) I'd absolutely love to see some video of your two furries playing! |
first off I have to say, I love your user name, for all you have been through and then to use the name Sunny daze says a lot about your outlook on life. Sounds like Gizmo is just the medicine you need, he is a doll. My husband and I have no kids and I can't imagine what our life would have been like these past 25 years without a little furbutt in it, Oh I guess I can imagine, it would be BORING:D |
Thanks for sharing! ! We joined the world of Yorkies about. 6 years ago.. .And now we have 3!! Can't imagine our lives without them.. so glad you've found some joy in your life.. :) |
Awww thanks everybody xoxo. I actually got a cute pic of Lucy taunting Gizmo today. She was sitting on the back of a chair, stretching one of her front legs down as far as she could, to get him to try and jump up to get it lol. Of course she was smart enough know he couldn't jump that high yet, as he is a tiny little fur baby hehe. I will resize it to make smaller so I can post it here :-) they are so cute together xoxo |
Reading your story, makes me realize how wonderful our pets can be. I am sorry you have gone through so much with the pain/etc. but I am glad Gizmo is bringing so much joy to you. I hope you have many "sunnydayz". :) |
