I know this may seem like a "dumb" question :o but how can I tell the difference between my yorkie playing or attacking my bulldog??? He'll jump at her face and nip at her if she has a toy he wants and they'll later play "keep away" with the toy. But I'm worried he may be attacking her and if I don't correct it he will think it's ok and this behavior will progress...he does bark and growl while jumping at her. My bulldog doesn't "retaliate" she'll either just lay there and take it, play keep away, or nudge him with her head. Any suggestions are appreciated!:) | Who's the alpha between the two? If you see your pup's tail wagging, I believe that's one indication of play. Does he curl his lips and show teeth? If not, then another sign of play.
The jumping on face and nipping... I think you should just keep an eye on them for that. I think it's a play thing but if your bulldog feels it's too much, she might try to put him in his place. Being much smaller of the two, injury could occur.
Zoey will try bullying Magnus from time to time. And he'll take it for a while, but once he had enough, he'll put her in her place. Although he has never really hurt her, I do keep close watch in case it gets out of hand. |
