Yorkie Growth chart Hello! We have a new yorkie that is 12 weeks old today. She is ADORABLE and has stolen all of our hearts... well, not necessarily the hearts of our 2 male westies- but she's working on it! I am trying to guess-timate how big she will be. She weighed just over 2 lbs at her 11 week vet visit. Her mother was 5 lbs and her father was 4.5. Is there a guideline that anyone knows of to help estimate how big she will be full grown? Thanks! |
The rule I usually see is whatever weight they are at 12 weeks, double it & that's usually their adult size- give or take a lil bit. If you google yorkie growth chart (isn't there one on YT??), they break it down by the week & ounce. So it sounds like your girl is "charting" to be around 4 lbs... tho that's just her weight, not her size, like physical structure. Post pix of the cutie! |
Congratulations on your new puppy. Here is the growth chart I have been using: Looking for a Puppy Weight Chart? You also have to consider body structure and if your puppy is lean or chubby. Some puppies follow the weight chart and some go way off. It sounds like your pup will probably be between 4 1/2 and 5 lbs grown. |
Gizmo is 2 lbs at 11 weeks, and I figure he will be between 4 and 5 lbs. . I have a friend that has kept baby books on all of her past four yorkies. We were going through them and almost every one of them followed the doubling the 12 week weight, give or take maybe a half a pound :-) we were going through them to compare them to the weight chart to see how accurate it was. She nly had one, her current fur baby Pasha, that was one pound difference. By the weight chart it had him estimated at five lbs and he is six :-) |
Ally followed the chart, Tia did not, and Oreo is on track to follow it. I think it depends on how much they eat also. Tia is a pig! Ally is picky. Oreo...I can't really tell. He have learned what people food is and wants that or the girls' dog food. (He had Parvo, almost died, and I fed him chicken & rice to fatten him up.) |
A lot of dogs don't follow the growth charts, but I would estimate between 4-6 pounds. |
