Home Cooking is the BEST! I have yet to do that for them everyday, but hope to someday. I'm just so scared of not giving them a balanced meal w/the appropriate supplement. You can use any suplement that your vet suggests or Balance It, many YT'ers use it. It's very important that their home cooked meals are supplemented bc it's lacking in vital nutrients. For example, dogs & cats need taurine, it is an essential amino acid. Taurine Deficiency in Dogs | petMD Some veggie proteins need to be paired w/a certain food to get the proper amino acids from those foods. So just tossing this & that together is not the best thing for your pet when home cooking, that's why it's best to get a recipe from a vet nutritionist. I would love to know what you feed your little ones and that they are very happy to eat. My last Yorkie loved raw veg's, fruit, she would eat anything. I used to make green smoothies, made from anything Green that grew above the ground with fruit as well and she drank it. I haven't tried Hollee.. so must. Ax :aimeeyork |
Good luck with your furry family. . You sure have your hands full and your work cut out for you. Well done. Would love to hear how you get on. Ax |
Avermike .. you have a Hollee too ... well mines a Holly :-) Has anyone heard of a "brand" of raw dog food called Dawin's Raw Dog Food based out of Seattle (I'm in the suburbs of Seattle so easy for me to get if its good) ...... I've heard a lot about a raw food diet mostly good but as with anything there are differing opinions most with good intentions ..... my concern with a raw food diet would be the pup not having kibble to clean their teeth .. chew toys, chew treats or butcher bones could be a substitute I suppose .... I noticed on the Darwin's site they sell raw duck necks .. this kind of scares me but they state that raw duck bones are ok and get digested and don't splinter .. Anyway maybe all these questions should be posted in the diet and health section and a separate thread :-) cheers |
