I need help! My yorkie swallowed a burr, I think. We were outside and then I noticed burrs stuck around her mouth and since then she's been trying to cough something up. It's been about 5 hours since it happened and shes still trying. I had her eat some grass but she didn't puke it up. She's been drinking water and still nothing. I read that giving her a piece of bread would help dislodge it so i tried and she puked up the bread but is still trying to cough up whatever is in her throat....what should I do> |
I was going to mention a piece of bread ... as a kid if I swallowed a fish bone my dad would run off and make me eat a few slices of bread and problem was gone .... the other thing is it could have scratched on the way down and that will irritate the throat and she'll feel like something is in there ... I'll let other advise you more as I'm by no means an expert .... Hope she feels better soon |
Bread and some water (spell correct on my phone was so funny!). edited from laptop! |
Depends on the type of burr, and size of the dog, but I'd go to a vet asap. Some things can do more damage if they come back out (vomited up). After 5-6 hours, that thing is stuck. |

Why do our babies always do these things on weekends and after hours? Good luck, prayers & post an update when you can. |
You need to get her to the closest emergency vet! |
Vet. He can give her a pain shot, relax her and go in and get it with a long forceps or even a scope if he has one. |

I would get her to the vet!!! |
I agree with others. Please see a vet asap! Good luck! |
Just checking in to see how she is doing today!! I hope you got her to the vet ok. I got burdock stuck in my eye when I was younger. It was stuck to the strings of my jacket and it stuck me in the eye. I had to go to the eye doctor and have it removed. |
