Can Yorkies eat any type of fish This is a question that My Wife asked me the other day, Can Yorkie's eat fish without an issue, Without bones and mixed in with other dry or wet food, Not whole big piece or a whole fish. Such as with their dinner. Thanks Jeff |
Tilapia is a popular fish to feed to feed to dogs. Whitefish. Salmon -- although some dogs don't do well with it. |
I've fed mine canned salmon.............they love it. No problems. |
As long as there aren't bones like you said, I don't see a problem with it. Uni has kibble that is fish meal based, anchovy, salmon, and sardine. Needless to say, she has fish breath after her meals. So fish breath may be the only problem. |
Some of the better dog foods use fish. Blue Buffalo has fish formula and so does Merrick, Fromm and others. We add steamed white fish as part of a balanced diet from time to time. No bones and no skin. |
For some reason, my Yorkies don't do well w/fish formula kibbles (soft poopies) but does excellent (firm poopies) on real fresh fish. If I happen to have salmon, cod, tilapia fillets, I'll boil some for them (plain, no seasonings), they love it. |
:goodpost:Good post! I was wondering about that as well! |
Just don't feed fish with a high mercury content like tuna, if you google mercury content in fish there are some sites that give you a list. |
