TopKnots Just looking for opinions on the topknot. Junebug is a male so I am guessing it might not be customary for the male to have one. It also seems much easier to "not" have one and more comfortable for the dog. |
Sometimes it's just easier for the human not to have to keep putting the band in! Boys can have top knots. Some boys have haircuts that give bangs so a topknot becomes unnecesary. I keep a topknot in Lucy's hair. Mine are less than perfect, though, and many times lean a little bit to one side or the other (my kids call it the "side pony".) The band has to be changed frequently though or the top of the head will mat. Many yorkies pull or rub them out. I don't like to make mine too tight and I don't like when the eyelids are pulled way up. That looks uncomfortable to me. I use 3/8" bands - ordered online. I have a topknot scissor so I can remove a snarled band without pulling the hair. It's easy to keep a pup in a top knot if you're willing to keep up with it! It's a personal decision. Not necessary unless you're showing the dog. Good luck. |
Draco wear one, I like the look. Draco doesn't seem to notice/mind, and so far he only tried to take off one bow but it was a huge one, haha. Other than that I think the comfort levels are the same. It differs from pup to pup though. I'm guessing it's definitely easier to not have one and just have trimmed sense you'd never have much to worry about. It's up to opinion. Boys can wear bows, bowbiz has an entire section of bows for boys. |
1 Attachment(s) We are trying to grow Alfie's coat and he gets tears eyes when his hair is loose. I prefer to keep him in piggy tails rather than a topknot and use latex bands with no bows. Attachment 390724 |
Topknots...Not just for girls! Brody is very handsome in his topknot! :D |
Ricky has a topknot, Prince does not. Prince has had one, but he hates them and they don't stay in. I am very careful not to dress them in "girly colors," but it doesn't seem to make a difference...people always think they are both girls anyways. |

My boy is very confident in his topknot ;) We keep the bows for the girls, but Yoshi wears bands in black, blue, red & other fun masculine colors. |

I tried the top knot but I'm to lazy to keep with it. I have two human kiddos. Both are boys and both have really long hair. Between my kids hair and my hair and Sparky's long hair, I'm brushed out. Lol he has the visor style where the front is like bangs and the back part of his head hair is parted behind his ears. |
I used to put them in my boy, but my DH did not care for them, I found they look cuter and more like a boy with trim around face and a bandana on their color. Plus with a topknot, it should be done everyday so they can see and I got lazy to do it all the time. |
