Puppy Purse 1 Attachment(s) My baby hates his cute purse. How did you get your yorkie used to the doggy purse? |
Well you have to train him. I never trained Peanut to go into those purses. So he hates them, and will not deal with it for a second. Thankfully he loves his stroller.. I would just start to work with him. Maybe put some treats in there so he crawls in there to eat them- praise him when he does. Then maybe make him stay in there for a minute or so, let him come out and praise him- reward him. Work with him like that and he will get use to it. Leave it open on the floor so he can go in there.. maybe you can put a blanket in there.. if you see him go in there by his self always praise him and reward him. |
Do you leave the opening up so he can see? Could be kind of scary at first if he is in the dark and can't see anything. Try starting out with it as open as possible. It does take some training if they are not used to going into a purse. The first purse I had for Gracie was not as tall as yours and she had to lay down in order to close it. She just hated that. Although I eventually got her to use it she still does not like it. I have other purses that she can move around in better and she loves those. Try playing some games with him. Don't force him at first. Try getting him to just sit in it at first and use some treats. Usually when they realize that this is a fun thing they do accept it. |
Put a small dish with boiled chicken in the purse still open. If pup won't go in but it next to the purse and slowly move it to the back of the purse. Eventually the pup will associate purse with good things. |
Good ideas! I like the bowl of boiled chicken idea. :) |
I'm not sure I have any advice, mine is still pretty young. I do like the ideas you are getting though! I do however looooove that bag. I've seen it multiple places online, where did you get it? It's way too cute! :) |
1 Attachment(s) When I got Lily, she was already 3 years old. I just put her favorite blanket in the bag and started carrying her around the house before I took her out one day. Praising her the whole time. She loved it and never gave me any trouble. She would even fall asleep in her bag. One day we got home & I set the bag down on the couch, only to notice that she hopped back inside with this "mommy, I'm ready" look :-) It was so cute that I had to grab the camera quick. |
That is a cute purse. I hope he will get used to it and like it. |
Oh I love that purse !!! I have no advice, and I'm going to have to learn this myself, I just ordered Gizmo one that is kinda similar, well in colors :-) also a new ultra choke free harness and leash that's really sparkly. Can't wait to start training him. I will be watching this thread. The chicken won't work for me. I found gizmo has gotten very regular since removed it, so he can't have chicken. I was thinking what about playing hide and seek, putting your babies favorite toy in there and moving it to different areas of the house each time, then get super excited when its found ? Who knows haha, I'm just guessing, but I might try this. I think mine would have fun with it, and maybe it will create a positive association with it? Like oh wow yea, lets go in the fun thing hahaha. If you try it and it works I will be excited, because than that's what I will do :-) <3 |
Bailey went into his purse by me putting a Kong mini toy with treats in it inside. The first one I bought was a duffel style with mesh on one side and the two ends. He still wants to go in that one when we go long distances for travel, tho he has 2 other ones he can go in. |
My yorkie who is 16 pounds and too big for most carriers absolutely LOVES them. It takes time and patients and lots and lots of yummy treats. |
The younger they are when you start using the purse the quicker they will accept it. Puppies tend to like small closed areas but as they get older and are not snugglers so much anymore a small closed area is not quite as inviting to them. |
