Upset Tummy/Pepto Bismol?? My 6 month old 2.7 lb little girl woke me up a 5 a.m. with the dry heaves. Obviously an upset tummy. Is it ok to give her Pepto Bismol to help calm the upset? I gave her a little childrens anti-diarrhea liquid because that's all I had at home. The breeder told me that was ok to give when loose stool. That did seem to do the trick. She was up playing like always and did eat her breakfast. I will get some of the pink stuff and have it on hand if anyone has used this and knows that it's ok. |

Kaopectate - Pet, Dog and Cat Medication and Prescription List | petMD I would give her ( buy) Kaopectate instead of Pepto. Just make sure you are giving her the correct dosage.. The dose for dogs is 0.5 to 1.5 ml per pound per day, |

My Rainbow Bridge baby had problems with her stomach, and she was on daily prescription medication for it. When she was stressed due to my husband being in the hospital and had a little diarrhea, I spoke to my vet by phone. He told me to give her Pepto Bismol. She was close to seventeen, and she had it a number of times. I'd worry about the aspirin, but my vet is very conservative with medication, and I trust him completely. I hope your baby gets better. If it continues, I'd definitely see the vet. |

I would check with your vet before giving anything. |

Just came across an article on pepto bismol for dogs: Pepto bismol They recommend only 1 teaspoon per 20 pounds of weight. For a tiny puppy of only 2.7 pounds, that work out to a few drops, so I definitely wouldn't risk doing it. Kaopectate would be safer, but for diarrhea, many people on Yorkietalk recommend canned pumpkin (1 tablespoon of the pure stuff, with no sugar added). |

Pepto Bismol Thanks for the responses. I actually called my vet yesterday and she said that it is ok to give it to her and gave me the dosaging instructions. I gave her 1 ml this morning. She is fine and hasn't had an issue today. This was done before I read these responses to my post. If she has any issues the rest of the day today or in the morning, I will be taking her to the vet tomorrow. |

Glad to hear your baby is feeling better. |

Of course, you never want to give aspirin without approval from your vet :). |

Winnie has had stomach problems since day one. My vet has always suggested pepto. |

My 2 yr old Buster has had gastro issues for over a year. Usually when tummy is empty in the am. Vet put him on daily dose of pepto. 1/8 tablet. It works well. Also to feed him kibble just before bed to keep food in tummy as possible. |

if your baby has not caught a bug, consider feeding more frequently. These little ones' tummies get upset on an empty stomach. Maybe keep a bowl of fresh dry kibble always available? Lberty is prone to getting queazy first thing in AM. I'm now offering a small "snack" before bedtime and a piece of homemade biscuit first thing on awakening. The biscuits are so easy to make and this site has some great recipes. knock wood, it's working. |
