Charile the breathing mouse trap..
 

This is kind of gross but mice got in our house some how. Charlie figured out really quick there were mice in the house. They made their spot under the refrigerator and Charlie at least once a day would start circling the fridge and whining. It took me a couple days to realize it was a mouse causing him to do that. They were here for almost a week but didn't make much noise at all so I would forget to get traps. I didn't realize there was more than one either. Well Charlie couldn't handle it anymore and last night went bazook and squeezed behind the refrigerator and got each one - one by one. He was literally going crazy like nothing was going to stop him and would get one and kill it, leave it right in front of the refrigerator for us to get rid of and then go get the next one. They were all babies it looked like. They tried to get away but he wasn't having it. He did it so quickly. I was kind of freaking out about diseases. My boyfriend told me to just let him kill them. We had a broom ready just in case he tried to eat them, but pretty much he just wanted to kill them. There were three total. All babies. He seems fine. He was so proud of himself too. Is that bad that I let him do that?

Keep in mind that the Momma Mouse is probably still around there. So, if you want to make it hard for her to re-establish her nest, leave the Frig out a little, where Charlie can make regular rounds back there. His presence/scent will make her move. If you see some other area he's interested in...

Give him access ! ;)

I was thinking the same thing about the momma and he's circling the refrigerator right now as we speak waggin his tail. We might have another episode soon here.

I would scream and run everytime i seen one. LOL ! Like for my life ... thats how I felt. I felt like they were after me chasing me down the hallway. I didn't even want to look behind me. All in my head because they were still cornered by charlie who was calculating his next move. . I don't like critters and bugs.

Yay for Charlie! ,:bravo:I despise rodents and anything reptilian except for my accessories lol. We had a lizard get in our house a week ago and I ran outside to get hubby so he could catch it. Ugh if we had a mouse I probably would of stayed outside til an exterminator came.

He is doing exactly what he was bred to do, here is a little history lesson for ya:
Yorkshire Terriers were breed by Scottish immigrant clothing mill workers in the Victorian era in Yorkshire, England. They were bred to hunt rodents within the clothing mill, they were bred to a petite size in order to get to rodents in hard to reach areas. The Yorkie's silky hair led to the breed becoming a high class society dog as the beautiful hair was coveted by high society ladies, and soon they became companion dogs. Even though their career in rodent hunting was short lived, they still have those instincts to this day.
That's why Charlie was going crazy, he was doing what his instincts were telling him. He deserves a big round of applause and praise for doing a job well done!:bravo:

I would try very hard to find the entry area that the mice came in through. If one can get in so can a whole herd? of them. Check around where your pipes come up from the cellar and stuff steel wool in any spaces that you find around the pipes or any small holes you find that go down or into a wall space. Those mice can live inside your walls and make a horrible icky mess. Check your foundation for any cracks or holes that they could possibly squeeze in through. You would be amazed at what tiny openings they can get in through.

Dogs can get leptospirosis from wild rodents. Also, field mice can carry Lyme disease and hantavirus. I would make sure momma mouse doesn't bite or scratch your dog.

I think that very few of us, realize how much pleasure our Yorkies have, in doing something they were bread to do.

How proud you must feel, having your little Charlie put himself between you and those fears.

We found the entry. Under a drawer in the cabinets under the sink there is a hole in one that goes right under the house. A perfect hole like it was cut that way for some reason. I thought about putting poison in it but worried about any cats that might go under the house. So yes were going to make sure it's sealed.

Charlie is doing what he was bred to do!!! And people say Yorkies are useless little yappy dogs. So not true!!! Roxy and Cozy love to hunt!!!

Roxy unfortunately bites off more than she can chew literally.

4 pound yorkie vs. 15+ pound groundhog = 1 terrified mama who as super thankful to have a Golden retriever who will gently mouth to distract the ground hog til mama can grab the dummy. Once I got a hold of Roxy- Buddy ran to the back porch and then proceeded to yell and mouth Roxy to tell her off. It did not good though an hour later she was back hunting!!

Poison is a bad idea anyway because they could die inside your house and that would smell really bad for a really long time. I hope this does the trick for you.
