My Friend Brought Home A Little Dog
 

My friend came into the door with a small dog. I thought it looked like a yorkie or at least part yorkie. He was dirty, tired and hungry but outside of that he looked okay. This was the second time we found a dog in our area. My friend said she saw him walking by the railroad tracks and was able to catch him. We were just about to take the dog to the vet to check him out and then we were going to find out where he came from. We were getting into the car when we saw a car riding around very slowly. We waited for a few minutes and the car came back again. Finally the car stopped and a lady opened the window and asked us if we had seen a small dog. She said the dog was missing for three days and her kids were hysterical. The woman said the baby sitter had let him out on purpose because she didn't like him. I told her we were just about to start searching for his owners but we wanted to make sure he was okay.
Well we took the dog out of the carrier and thank goodness it was their dog. The lady was so glad to see him she was crying and as I looked at her husband he had tears in his eyes also. They said the dog was a yorkie poo and he was 3 months old. He offered a reward but we refused to take it. By this time we were all crying. They took the dog whose name was Whiskers and they left.
The next day when we went to get the mail there was an envelope in the mailbox with nothing written on it. When we opened the envelope there was a $100 bill inside with a note thanking us with all their hearts. The note said I know you didn't want a reward but you deserve it you are the best. No name or anything else on the note. I don't know when he left it because our dogs bark at anything that comes near the house. We took the money and put it away and if we ever see them again we are going to give it back. Just seeing Whiskers was loved and back home again was reward enough for us.

What a lovely story with a happy ending. I wish all the little lost souls could get back to their homes so quickly, although 3days must have seemed like a year. Glad the poor baby was well.

That's a great story. I'm so glad it had a happy ending to it. I think it was great of you guys to do what you did and were willing to do. As for the money... how about you donate it to a shelter in Whisker's name? Just thought it would be fitting but of course, it's only a suggestion. :)

Here I am tearing up again at work. So nice to have a happy ending for a lost sweetie for a change. Thank goodness you were there when they happened to be driving around! 3 Days! I'm sure that was an eternity for Mom, Dad and Whiskers. You're an angel.

That is a wonderful story. If I ever lost Amy I would hope someone as good as you would find her and do the exact same thing. I would be out night and day looking for her. Bless you

If the babysitter would put a 3 month old puppy (that she didn't own!) out on the streets because she didn't like it, I would be very concerned what she might do to one of the children if she suddenly took a dislike to them. :angry:

I'm glad this had a happy ending. A 3 month old pup on its own for 3 days... he's lucky to have survived! And if I were them, the babysitter wouldn't be allowed anywhere near my house again! That's just unbelieveable that a babysitter would do something like that to someone she is working for. Absolutely unforgiveable! They obviously appreciate you and your friend. I hope you get to know these people and see how the pup is doing in the future.

That was my thought, too. Time to look for a new babysitter.

Thank you for your words of praise but it's nothing any animal lover would do. I know how I would feel if one of ours was lost. Yes we are going to donate the money to a shelter and add some of our own to the donation. Oh by the way Whiskers lives about two blocks away from us and we are going to keep in touch with the family. When Whiskers gets a little older we are going to introduce him to our group. Hopefully we will all become friends.

I just love happy endings! It seems like it was important to those people to give you the reward. If you really don't want it maybe consider donating it to a local no kill shelter/rescue or buy some things for the shelter/rescue and take them over in Whiskers name.
