Roscoe adopted us! Greetings! We are new to the Yorkie world. Our Yorkie appeared at our door this summer looking forlorn and disheveled. My husband let him in and fed him and then I gave him a bath, which he appreciated. We put flyers around the region to find his owners, but no one came forward to claim him. We were glad because we'd already fallen in love with him -- and named him Roscoe Liam. A visit to the vet revealed that he is 9 years old. He'd been "fixed" and was already well trained. Our 2 cats even accepted him. He is very well mannered and rarely barks except when he needs to go outside. He loves rides in the car. We feel very blessed that Roscoe chose us for his home!! :animal36 |
Here I am crying and laughing reading everyone's stories! This is such a great thread :) |
I love all the stories!! Mine is not so poignant a story but a cute one. Hubby and I had sister cats that were getting up in age and I made a comment one day that when the day comes, could we look at maybe getting a dog for companionship. He'd had dogs before where I didn't have any of my own, but had, had roommates with dogs. We toyed with the idea and actually visited some dogs. Well, the dog I picked up was very aromatic and when we left, I had gotten over my curiousity of dogs and kinda gave up the notion of having one. Long story short, 2 weeks before Christmas hubby came home and had me sit on the couch while he handed me my Christmas present early - a big bag and told me to be careful. I had no idea of what it could be; all of a sudden I saw something move and I screamed. lol When I was able to focus, I saw that it was a tiny little thing with the sweetest face. I was in love. Hot Rod was so fuzzy, lol. His hair was so ragged that he looked like an ewok. I haven't stopped loving on him since and Maggie May just completes out little family. |

3 Attachment(s) I just found an hold hard drive that had pictures from when I first got Mr. Bucket. I thought I would share the progression. The first picture was when we first brought him home, the second after his first grooming, the last one is a few months ago. |
We were offered an incredible pet yorkie for free. Her owners left her to die in their backyard when they moved, and a neighbor rescued her when she found out they weren't coming back. But Minnie kept attacking her other dogs, so she was about to take her to the pound. Instead we took her and got the most loving and fun dog in the world. Minnie loved us so much that when one of us would come home she would jump on the couch, run across the top of it, jump over to the recliner and run on top of that, jump over to the loveseat and run on top of that, turn around to finish the lap (all in full running speed), then jump down from the couch and jump up at our legs. One post is way too short to go into all the things Minnie did to make us fall in love with yorkies, but that was one of the things we really loved that she did. It made her death so hard to deal with back in May. Thankfully my yorkie love story continues with my pup Cookie who runs at rabbit speed and just loves giving yorkie kisses. If I'm taking a nap with her on the couch she'll eventually jump up on my chest and start kissing me over and over again on the face to wake me up and tell me it's playtime lol. |
I was going through alot of stuff back in 2002, and I was going th therapy, and my counselor called up one day and said I want you to research on what kind of dog you are going to get and I said what, I had always had dogs growing up. I had a yorkie who stole my heart, he came running to greet me and the rest is nothing but love. I had a fellow coworker who happened to have yorkie puppies, I had never liked small dogs. I cannot imagine my life for one second without him, he is truly the love of my life and hes almost 11 now |
lily girl's story 4 Attachment(s) My love for yorkie's started in January 2012...growing up i wasnt allowed to have any animals but i always love both cats and dogs. I moved to NC with my nubby and got a cat! it was amazing and my hubby really really wanted a husky so we started looking for one and found one while we were visiting at home in FL in October 2011(Skye) and a few months later we just went to the pet store in NC (at the time I didn't know about pet stores) to look for another kitty for me and I noticed the cutest little puppy that could barely see with all the hair in her face. so we asked if we could play with her and i fell in love instantly as she peed right in front of me with no shame :p and thats how we got Lily girl. I was so in love with her as soon as I saw her then we brought her home...our husky and Lily played like they were sisters instantly and i was soooooooo happy since skye was 10x her size. but the most gentle big girl ever! my hubby also fell in love with her and we just keep falling more!! we found out we were moving to Japan late last year but a week before we had to fly out we found out Skye's microchip stopped working and they couldn't "prove" it was the same dog so we didn't have time to put another one in and do all the rabies titers and health cert for her to fly internationally. we had to leave her in the states and it broke our hearts, especially my hubby since she was his husky that he always wanted! (she is staying with my sis in law until we can go back to the states) so when we go here in January 2013 we decided we needed another puppy to fill the void and also so Lily had someone to play with and thats how we ended up with Taka! :D we didn't want any other breed except a yorkie or morkie for our 3rd puppy!!! thats my story of yorkie love! hope you enjoyed it, i know it was really long lol. heres some pics! the first pic is Lily at 2 months the day we brought her home, second is her with her best friend skye, third is lily and taka the day we brought him home and last is taka now |
Such sweet love stories! I love reading all these stories! :) |
I love these stories |
1 Attachment(s) Sophie Kate was a puppy who I watched for a week to help a girl who worked for me. According to her Sophie Kate was not trainable however when they dropped her off she had no harness, leash, collar, crate or food. After an immediate trip to my Vet (since they had not records) I brought her home and she has been here ever since. Attached is a picture from one of the first days she was with me, I love the picture but it makes me sad. Sophie Kate was so afraid of humans ant being touched she would cower down. Boy have things changed, Sophie Kate expects everyone to pet her an love her the way I do. When I look at that picture now all I can think of what a little scuffy muffin, she was so greasy and actually kind of funny looking. |

The story began because stupid me got mixed up in a scam. We saw these cute yorkies on line and we fell in love. Long story short it was a scam and we ended up losing about $3200 but by then I was in love with yorkies. One day I was walking by a pet store and something made me go inside, This was before I knew about puppy mills and things like that. Well there was this little yorkie and the owner took the dog out and I fell in love head over heels. To this day Zach is the love of my life and as strange as it seems, I feel grateful to the scammers because if it wasn't for them I would never have Zach in my life. |
I'm new to the forum so here is mine: I never thought I would love another dog again once I lost my shih tzu, Misty, right before my divorce. I met a guy and his family had lil' Lily who was 6 months at the time. She would be the first thing I grabbed when I walked in the door and try to steal (in my purse, up my shirt, etc) when leaving - LOL. Grew to love her so much that I kept telling her she was going to be my doggie someday and provided his family with fake custody papers, hahaha. After 4 months, I knew the relationship wasn't working but it was hard leaving cause I loved the family & dog so much. I even went back a couple of times in the year to visit. With my current boyfriend, I would even show him pictures of Lily and tell him how much I wanted her! He thought I wanted a dog like her but I said "no, I want LILY". Fast forward 3 years and Lily's owners couldn't take care of her like she wanted as her health was getting worse (in & out of the hospital all the time & even ended up losing her leg). She send me a message one day saying she knew how much I always loved Lily and if I would be interested in adopting her. I went into tears as my dream came true. God works in mysterious ways and lil' Lily is now my precious little girl. The day I picked her up was one of the greatest moments of my life. She remembered my truck when I pulled in and started hyper ventilating when she saw me. She was going absolutely crazy that my friend even stated that this confirmed she was making the right decision and how it was obvious that Lily still remembered me. To this day, I even have the fake custody papers that I typed up and continuously tell Lily that I kept my promise that she would be my doggie. I love her with all my heart! |
