Psycho Analysis Needed please Today Crytal was bought a new chew thingy. It resembles a large sausage and looks like it's made of Marzipan! She carries it around with the little whimper call, fretfully trying to hide it somewhere. Could this be the first latent pangs of motherhood? I remember our cats used to try and hide some of their kittens in obscure places; away from the rest of the litter and prior to birth hide bogus kittens in the linen basket! It's really quite amusing, but as the little sound seems like a 'distress' call, I wonder? Immediately it's removed from the scene she returns to normal. All her teeth 'seem' firm... |
Could be that or just that she knows in a home setting there is no good hiding place where others won't run across her "treasure" soon, no matter where she hides it. Domesticated dogs living in homes and yards realize they have no good places to secrete their goodies away securely and thus are always nervous about them and moving them from one hiding place to another frequently. Tibbe sometimes whines/whimpers when he gets a treasure he wants to try to hide and carries it around looking for a good place to hide it for a while and does - then he'll be re-hiding it very soon, bemoaning his ability to really "hide" anything in his world. Without the vast spaces in his territory like his wilder kin and close proximity of other critters to easily happen upon his hidden treasure, he seems more than aware that really hiding something is only an illusion for most dogs today. |
Funny Jilly, her mom cut the first 'edible big chew' into segments and they have all been eaten up. The last is still in one piece, about seven inches long and about an inch wide. She's definitely got a 'secret grotto' somewhere, but none of us, including her I believe, know its location. If we hide this new found 'centre of the universe', she promptly runs off to deprive us of it's obvious human benefits elsewhere! She's getting an absolute joy to be with by the way Jilly, really understanding commands, letting us use the comb now, unhindered, co-operating with her funny old one armed dad when its harness time. Protecting him from imaginary boogie men on our walks etc. and it's only seven weeks ago today we all found each other! I never thought to find such affection or unending fun this late in my life? |
I think it means she REALLY likes it! Quote:
Analytically, IDK, I think they 'imprint' on us heavily. They don't beg, they really think 'I AM, therefore I deserve what ever you have'! I AM, and I can! I AM, and you cannot ignore me! I AM, and I will be part of your life, forever!:D |

That's why, in many threads, you may read "I don't want my dog to know how upset I am", and that's a job in itself! In any other forum, that statement (or the poster) seems a bit 'off', lol, but here at YT, it's totally understandable and can actually be a big problem, as Yorkies can become ill just due to stress. |
I don't think it has anything to do with motherhood my yorkie who was spayed before her first heat will walk around with something crying trying to figure out where to hide it normaly its a treat she does not enjoy. Growing up we had one dog a bigger dog who would take her things out the doggy door and actually bury them it was funny. |
