Microchip registry Does anyone here know about the free microchip registry at Found Animals? Or do you know of another free registry? Thanks |
Nobody?? |
I thought you just registered with the Brand maker of your chip. |
You can but then you have to pay each year for them to keep your info. THis site stores your information forever free. https://microchipregistry.foundanima...hp?language=en I don't use them yet, just wondering if it is an option to not have to pay every year. |
My vet registered our micro chip for us, so we didn't have to pay. |

When a vet/shelter scans a pet, the scanner shows which brand of chip is implanted, so they know which site to look up the owner info. My daughter volunteered at our local humane society in high school and they routinely scanned strays & looked up owner info if they were chipped. I don't think a shelter would look at various independent registration sites. |
24petwatch charges each year for my new kitty. Even though I got her at the Humane Society. Paris was never microchipped. I'll ask the vet when I take her in. Thanks for the info. |
I have a home again chip and will pay annually. Just got it. Haven't heard of free registries. Would be nice, but the cost is really nominal, so I'm not stressing over it. |
It's not expensive, but every little bit helps. And if there is a free alternative, I'm there! I'll be checking this out with my vet. |
my vet microchipped my old dog misty and we didnt get charged evry year |
I don't have Home Again, but from what I understand, you don't need to ay an annual fee. If you are, it's because it's an enhanced package. |
Check to see if your pet's information is showing up This explains how a vet scans a pet and is able to find the company if it isn't wearing an identifying registry s tag. My vet scanned Katie and gave me her number. I used this tool to find the company. Katie had been registered with her breeder, but we were waiting for her papers to be transferred. This tool worked great. Even with having to change ownership with the microchip company, I was never charged a fee. Everyone should check periodically to make sure your company has the correct information. If you use my first link and put your chip number in, you can be sure the information is correct. When I got my dog microchipped in 2009 I think, we didn't payy extra but we did register were given 2 places to register at. One was a mail in form from Avid and the other did online at Found Animals. I think Avid has a one time fee though. Now at the same place with Draco it was just Found Animals, and was online registry and free. Both have sites though that can help register and find places to get your pet microchipped. |
I just registered free at www.foundanimals.org thanks for the help! AAHA website is the foundanimals one. I looked up my number and there I was! |
None of my microchipped pet have a yearly fee |
