Interesting! Not sure what I think, but I will definitely let that run through my brain when I see one of the pups licking. |
Thanks for the info. Buster sometimes licks the carpet, I have always assumed it was crumbled treat bits on the carpet. Always good to know that there is a possibility that it could be an indicator of a more serious issues. |
Very interesting. My Shelby is an obsessive licker, I think. He licks himself all over and sometimes I'll see him licking his toys..not chewing, but licking. He licked a hot spot onto his leg back when I was away when my niece was in the hospital. I've never thought of him having GI issues, though. I just thought it was sort of an OCD thing. Or really..I think it's a bored thing with him because he doesn't always do it. It's just when he starts...he goes on and on and on and I have to tell him to stop licking. Maybe he is a different scenario than these in the study. Makes me curious, though. |
I find this so interesting! My Rory has always been a kisser, but I noticed the ELS over the past year or so. She has PLE (protein losing enteropathy) and likely lymphangiectasia. (I have not had an intestinal biopsy done for confirmation since she is so far thankfully responding well to a homecooked diet formulated by a board-certified nutritionist.) Her internist has been satisfied with her albumin (protein) levels on her follow-up bloodwork the last few rechecks, and her obvious clinical symptoms have all resolved, though she still licks a lot. I'm intrigued. |

What an interesting read, Jeanie. I'm thinking this really could be true. It's sure something to put into the memory bank for the future. Thanks for sharing the article with us! |
Thanks for posting this article. It's interesting reading and it is something to keep in mind in case I notice this behaviour in the future. |
Thanks for posting this Jeanie! Momo is a licker & he has IBS, I have to be very careful of what I give him. |
